Well, well...turns out Treyvon wasn't such a "good boy" after all.

Now where all the bleeding hearts crying over the wasted life if a fine young man?

Trayvon was already having a "wasted" life before Jorje Zimmerman, eh?

The defense has a legitimate right to evidence showing a prior disposition — just as the prosecution has a legitimate right showing evidence of Zimmerman's arrest for battery on a police officer, a domestic violence injunction and other issues.

But Once Zimmermann chose to follow the victim in direct contravention of what the police told him to do, he has no defense and the victims history and drug use is irrelevant.

Zimmerman’s attorney will do anything to keep this case on HLN and the Nancy Grace Show. His attorney was on CNN a few days ago.

As soon as it was discovered that Zimmerman isn't white, this story was relegated to the back pages. The left has nothing to hoot at the moon about.

Perhaps Zimmerman's history is relevant, however, Martin's was probably more relevant being they were from events of the same day.
Showing Martin as someone spoiling for a fight that particular day will play out well for the defense.

"Spoiling for a fight" doesn't hold water. A kid (who just turned 17) who has voiced concern about a creepy man following him, who runs to get away from the creepy guy and successfully, he thinks, loses him, is the one looking for a physical confrontation? Sorry, I'm not buying the defense attorneys public campaign. Some are. As evidence of this thread being created.

From the accounts I have seen, Zimmerman lost track of Martin, and then was somewhat ambushed by Martin.

Sorry, but the initial reports were that a white security officer was profiling a young, innocent black male. Then as facts started to trickle out, it turns out that the innocent black youth was not a regular resident of the private gated community, and Zimmerman was not white but mixed Hispanic American (so much for the Evil White Man element).

Then it was revealed that Martin jumped Zimmerman and assaulted him, opening wounds on Zimmerman's head. Now the defense is showing Martin's state of mind the day of the incident, how he was a marijuana user and troubled teen displaying aggression and criminal tendencies before the incident.

My prediction: Zimmerman gets involuntary manslaughter and walks free with time served. The family will sue for $10million, and settle for less than $100,000 because Trayvon will be portrayed as an unsympathetic character with a history of criminal involvement, and his family as dysfunctional. Even though Zimmerman may be held culpable for Martin's death in some measure, Martin and his family will be portrayed in some very unflattering terms.

It's Tawana Brawley all over again.

Zimmerman should be compensated for every day he spent in jail, given a medal, and Martin's family can go piss up a rope. So much has been made of Martin's age but thugs younger than him kill people every day.

You obviously haven’t looked at any of the discovery documents.

Martin was visiting but had been there before. Martin was much closer to where he was staying that Zimmerman was to his home. And I'll defer on the evil white man element comment.

Moving forward.

There is no medical report for "wounds.". There were 2 small lacerations that only required being cleaned up. No bruising was apparent.

The defense is trying to taint the jury pool pure and simple. Southern juries know how to handle people who abuse kids — all kinds of kids.

There are documented photos of GZ's lacerated scalp and bloody nose. Size doesn't matter. What matters is that Martin was at some point an aggressor, which resulted in a struggle, and GZ's gun discharged, killing Martin. If Martin had gone straight home rather than confront someone following him, we'd all not ever heard of either of them. Likewise, if Martin had yelled at Zimmerman "Get away from me, jerk! I live with __________ at ________(address)."
This is why I surmise that Martin was spoiling for a fight.
Same dynamic as Elderts and Deedy. Making "big body" to the wrong person can get you killed.
Bottom line, while Martin did not deserve to die, he contributed to his own demise, and Zimmerman does not deserve to be convicted of murder. Manslaughter, perhaps, but not murder.
One thing that will likely occur is GZ will lose his right to keep and bear arms, and his days of working any kind of armed security are over.

"Lacerated scalp." You could argue self inflicted.

" Martin was at some point an aggressor."

The ME is decider on this and there was indication whatever that Martin had been involved in hitting someone.

"Zimmerman does not deserve to be convicted of murder."

Zimmerman had no business being where he was. Martin did. There is no excuse for Zimmerman’s predatory behavior.“Not on my watch,” he was heard saying. His intent was clear.

He has admitted to shooting the victim. The victim died. He is a murderer. Done.

I respectfully disagree. "Self-inflicted?" Really?
Zimmerman had the right to be where he was. Though off-duty, how would it play out if Martin had broken into a house and robbed a resident, and it came out that "George was in the area. How come he didn't follow they guy?" Damned either way, I'd say.
If someone acts aggressively toward you, takes you to the ground, and menaces you, if you were armed, you'd shoot.
I would. But that doesn't make me a likely murderer.

Yes, respect is in order. I respect the fact you keep it in bounds and don't resort to the usual, you know.

If Zimmerman deliberately hit or scraped his head on something to break the skin, he would not be the first defendant to do so, and won’t be the last.

It’s only Zimmerman’s unsubstantiated claim well after the killing as to how/who caused his “injury”.

Yes, but he is the defendant, innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The sources of reasonable doubt are his head injury and bloody nose (prosecutors would have to prove self-inflictedness under your scenario), Martin's demeanor and past behavior regarding drug use, prior trouble in school and with the law (which was significant), and the questionable veracity of Civilian Witness 8 who has already lied under oath.
My whole assertion is that if Martin contributed significantly to the confrontation leading his own demise, how can Zimmerman bear full blame as a murderer? It's not rational.

Team Zimmerman has lost key evidentiary battle. Judge Debra Nelson ruled today that most of this evidence, text messages, pictures, and history showing that Trayvon Martin had a history of discipline and drug problems would be kept out.

He kept it out because this has turned into a political show-trial, and Holder and Obama have most likely exerted their influence into it. OJ all over again.

However, some of this evidence may still be admissible depending on the direction of the prosecution. It also sets up grounds for a lengthy appeal if GZ is in fact convicted.

A byproduct of the defense's strategy is that Martin is being widely portrayed in the public eye as a violence prone punk. It appears he will be unworthy of the OJ style initial racial outrage. Martin's family has lost the high ground in any potential civil suit later.
