Turner sleazy campaign tactics REVEALED

Well, those of you who are reading this entry have no doubt read all the 'hit pieces' on Hamilton. It turns out that the desperate, floundering Turner campaign has enlisted the aid of some hired guns out of Austin--two highly connected guys by the names of Kelly Fero and Jeff Hewitt as well as another from Sherman. One is said to be an ex FBI agent. They are attempting to orchestrate a 'swift boat' attack on David Hamilton, with the intention of destroying him--politically, personally and professionally. Because he had the temerity to run for judge and the audacity to win, they are threatening him and his family and urging him to consider leaving town. Is this anyway to run a campaign?

Hamilton ran an admittededly aggressive, but within the boundaries primary campaign. All of his allegations, while uncomfortable for voters and especially Mr. Turner to hear, were obtained from public records, in the daylight and were presented in the open, with Mr. Turner having ample opportunity to respond and defend himself. Hamilton waged an old fashioned door to door, shaking hands and kissing babies campaign, aided only by the assistance of a strong corps of volunteers. He was at every county fair, pancake cooking, volunteer fire department function he could possibly attend--he took every opportunity to look voters in the eye, shake their hands and make his case--and lo and behold, it worked. He connected with people. They found him to be decent, hard working and sincere. Turner on the other hand, showed up just long enough to make an appearance, skipped out to smoke a couple of cigarrettes and then left the grunt work to paid help.
They employed the hypocritcal tactic of publicly proclaiming to be running a 'clean campaign', but privately waging an all out initiative of slinging stuff way nastier than mud--anonymously and with the aid of a disgruntled ex-employee from the other side.

Turner was promised an easy ride to victory by the established political powers in Lamar County. Lovett was supposed to deliver Red River County and Turner's well-connected political cronies in Fannin County were supposed to come through for him there. Well, it seems that Turner's lackluster legal career and loathsome personality were more than they could overcome over there. The establishment was stunned and disbelieving when all the votes were counted and not only did Hamilton make the run-off, he was the winner in the overall, three-county vote count. Stunned disbelief soon gave way to panic and anger. What if Hamilton actually won? What if he came in and cleaned up the courts and broke up the power sharing of status quo? They couldn't let that happen, hence the bringing in of the high powered political consulting firm..who incidentally has never gotten involved in local races. But they never came across someone with as much political ambition and corporate donations as Mr. Turner and his crew.

The big boys of Austin sprung into action immediately and dispatched a fleet of private investigators to west Texas (representing themselves as Texas Rangers) to interrogate and intimidate Hamilton's family, friends, adult children, elementary teachers,ex-employers and anyone else they could entice. They invited Hamilton's ex-wife to go out with them for a cold west Texas beer to 'loose her up.' Karl Rove would be proud!
The political consultants continue to orchestrate the smear job by creating and developing websites, producing and directing the development of marketing materials using paid actors and high dollar equipment and even coordinating the dialog that goes on this website. Utilizing the same two or three people to fan the flames of hatred and inflamatory rhetoric to make it appear that there is a much greater level of participation and interest than there really is in what's going on. Mrs. Flannary, daughter Jena, and a disgruntled ex-employee are responsible for 90% of the hateful postings.

They continue to try to link Hamilton with the Red River Politics site. He had no knowledge of or involvement with that site until well after the campaign began. He responded to their offer to advertise for free (this is something small, underfuned campaigns do), and answered questions from some of the participants on that blog, which he is willing to do for anyone. The Turner campaign states that they ran a clean campaign from the beginning, but they repeatedly tried to post the same garbage on the RRP site that they have been posting here. They were not allowed to share their vitriol, because they refused to provide one name, or one point of contact for the puposes of verification. So you see, they were slinging mud all during the primary, just as they are now, but they didn't have the level of sophistication and professional guidance that they are now paying for. Their inclination and tactics were the same. Sling sludge from out of the dark. Don't reveal your identity or your sources and certainly don't speak out in public.
They are now taking half-truths and outright lies from 20 or 30 years ago and spinning them into this fable of David Hamilton. They refuse to stand up in public and make their vile accusations before the voters, with Hamilton there to defend himself. I ask you, is this the American way. As I mentioned in a previous post, this violates the most basic tenets of the American justice system. Even the most hardened criminal has the right to face his accusers and offer a defense for the things of which he's been accused. Turner is depriving Hamilton and the voters of that fundamental right by refusing to face him in public. Does that sound like the kind of fairness we want behind the bench in the 6th district?
Another distressing thing about the vicious tactics being employed by Turner and his band of hired hit men, is the irreversible damage being done to the innocents. Hamilton's family is not running for judge--his school age children are not reponsible for all the perceived grieveances of the Turner camp. His adult children are not involved except to offer their unconditional support for their day. Why is it necessary to involve them in such a sordid way?
I believe that people of good faith can recognize a 'pile-on' when they see it. I pray that the voters of the 6th district will not allow themselves to manipulated by very skillful professional who make a great deal of money by impacting the outcomes of elections. Mr. Hamilton is still willing to debate Mr. Turner in front of voters and the media. If Turner believe one half of the sludge he is pumping out on this website, he owes it to the voters and the community to confront him in public. If any of you have questions or wish to hear explanations for any of the allegations, I'm confident that Hamilton would respond directly to you in a straight forward fashion.

Since when are retired DPS and FBI guys with investigators licenses "fake cops?" Turner didn't send them anyway. Whether your boss Hamilton wants to believe it or not, a concerned citizen of Lamar County hired investigators because of the corruption that IS Hamilton, and shared the results with him. Like you said, "last time I checked, it's a free country."

You have posted this on about twenty threads over three counties verbatim (that means word-for-word since apparently you're a little slow) and it is really tiresome.

Okay. I've done the math. Hamilton prevailed in the primary by less than 200 votes in a 3-county race. That's not quite a landslide.

Turner is far from desperation.
