Pauly is an idiot who ran that dump into the ground then cashed out and scrapped a historic landmark.

Rite Aid is going bankrupt, and will not survive.
Never.....ever.....tear down a historic landmark. Bad Karma. Will they never learn? Fools.

Hopefully once Rite Aid shuts down which it is going to, we get a DECENT restaurant. Rumor had it that Applebees wanted to build on Morgantown Crossings where Walmart is but the deed is restricted which says no restaurant can serve liquor. Enough of these right wing zealots that say when we go out to dinner we can't have a drink too. Mind their own business.

Maybe Applebees will look at the Rite Aide property and consider taking it.

I honestly think that no one truly knows how hard the people at that rite aid work. All the people who work there are hard workers and are more then glad to help any customer at anytime. Ungrateful people

Ungrateful? For what? Having a really cool place that was the best place in town to go and have good food and a good time torn down to put in a CORPORATE drug store? I wasn't opposed to Rite Aid coming to the community - just not DESTROYING an entire block and tearing down a historical (and it did need work - nobody is denying that) landmark.

Hey - they didn't HAVE TO work there at the drug store. That was their choice.

How hard can they be working? There's never any cars there!

Yes I'm sure the employees work hard at Rite Aide but we're talking corporate greed here, not the hourly employees who have no choice and are very grateful for their job. If corporate greed shuts down this Rite Aide now what will happen to the good hardworking employees in that store.

Do you think Rite Aide gives a hoot about them?????????? Daaaaa??????????

My guess is that Ben is one of the many Bible thumpers that live in the Morgantown area that are largely responsible for keeping booze out of the town and the lousy selection of restaurants. I can only hope that the influx of normal people like ourselves will result in a little more excitement in this town. We could sure use it.

So you people from Philly are the “normal” ones. That must mean that we are abnormal, unusual, peculiar, and strange, I found those in my dictionary, they're called antonyms, you gotta get one of these pal! I'm beginning to understand why you feel as though you are entitled to look down on us and call us all sorts of names. Try drinking more “booze” and I would bet you will soon start feeling as though you are superior to us.

I read an article in the Reading Eagle the other day that the Reading area has a very low education level, but that the bar is being raised due to migration from places like Philadelphia and New York. Don't hate us because we're superior. It's not becoming of you.
<quoted text>
Superior as in supreme as in supremacist!

I once knew a well-heeled and sophisticated gentleman very much like yourself, East Coast, big city all the way. Well... somehow his space pod landed him in Cow-patty Town USA, and to say that this refined and worldly bloke was unhappy is a true understatement. Sorta reminds me of that person from “Green Acres”, trying to get back to the city, always looking down on the simple country folk. Why, this uppity individual of which I speak could hardly stand to look upon the wretched simpletons that he walked among, fancying himself a polished James Bond like character. Well... due to a downward turn in the housing market it seems that “Mister Bond” was stuck rubbing elbows with “Mister Bumpkin” at the local Walmart. He thought it more fitting that he should do his shopping on the Main Line or Rittenhouse Square, even Park Avenue!
Well, one cold starry night around Christmas time he was in a local Bistro throwing them back pretty good, trying to drink away the smell of Amish and horse dung having just finished his Xmas shopping a Walmart when an olive lodged itself in his high-and-mighty throat. Of course he was drinking shakin' Martinis. Outside, all was quite as the snow gently fell on the peaceful rolling countryside and the handsome farmlands of the local village, but inside it was a whole 'nother story. The regulars were doing everything they could to save his life, but he would have none of it! In fact they say his final words were “get away from me you toothless wonders!” One of those toothless wonders was actually a trained Paramedic, kinda i'ronic don't you think? Well, as we all must do....
In an effort find out what became of this soul, a group of Berks County's finest men formed an inquiry, a committee of sorts. There were Neo-Nazis, Aryan Brotherhood, Klan members, Old Order Amish, Southern Baptists, skin heads, rednecks and Fundamentalists, a real “tough crowd” as people like to say, almost as tough as an Eagles crowd. At least these guys had the decency not to cuss out Santa as they fired snowballs at him! They tried every thing, chanting, channeling, speaking in tongues, a magic eight ball, even a seance, they found Houdini but no Mr. Bond. It wasn't till the old Amish fellow picked up a divining rod which led him straight to the Prince of Darkness himself! Seems my old friend, a self-proclaimed Eagles Fan, is now throwing snowballs in Hell.
Some say it was karma, some say it was poetic justice, some even say it was an angry God. Maybe it's as simple as a childhood cliche,“Don't get to big for your britches.” Or maybe as profound as the wisdom of the ancients,“Pride comes before a fall.”

Thank you for your time.

Can someone please shut this man up. He has hijacked every thread on Topix, no one else can get a word in edgewise! And I hold bikechick one hundred percent responsible this.“Oh Bridge, you should be a writer”,“Bridge, your posts are very clever”,“Oh bridge, your last post was really good”, make-me-puke! Doesn't she know better than to compliment a man? They turn into strutting peacocks, chest pounding apes, cockier than Amos' rooster, and now he has descended on Morgantown like a swarm of locusts. Poe? He's a guy with a dictionary and a chip on his shoulder. Thanks bikerchick, thanks a lot :)

Okay, so is the Rite-Aid store still open? Did the 'beta' person who started this thread in Jan/06 ever buy anything there? Sorry for the interruption, I can't help it if I'm nosey.

Ms. Beta is probably deceased by now.LOL Maybe she should have bought some medications at Rite Aid!

Hello old friend, just couldn't stay away from the exciting world of Morgantown Pa. huh? Sorry I have to re-hash old threads, this isn't like your forum where a new thread is started every hour. It looks like we only have about sixty threads, just one page in four years and they just merged us with other communities almost doubling us. I would guess you have forty pages of threads. I am actually thinking about responding to “Megan_Ann” in the very first thread that thinks this is Morgantown, WV.

It was the name “Morgantuckian” that blew my mind, yet one more coincidence? Maybe a new nick-name or profile “Morgantuckian2Nowhere.” And you know that could only be one gentleman, the one, the only...

A Tale of two Cities;
Morgantuckian meets Covered Bridge Pa.

A sweeping novel about a silver-tongued Northern country boy that thinks he's the reincarnation of Edgar Allan Poe and a sweet talking Southern Scarlett O'Hara type that flatters Edgar to the bursting point. Will he be able to deal with his ego? Will he become insufferable? Will he be inspired to greatness? Will he turn the stomachs of the good people of Morgantown? Or, will it just be another mushy romance novel? Stay tuned for this modern day Civil War epic! And don't forget to take your Dramamine.
