Monroe County H1N1 vaccine clinics turn attention to efficiency
#1 Dec 20, 2009
So I waited 5 1/2 hours for the h1n1 shot at the former Medley Centre on November 19th. 2 hours outside in sporatic rain and then 3 hours inside. No organization to speak of, not enough nurses and snarky police officers. Needless to say I am an idiot for waiting that long but the pediatrician's office did not know when they were going to get a new batch. So, I waited and waited. My poor daughter was such a trooper. By the time I was the next person in line, I heard a male officer say to his female counterpart, "Wouldn't it be funny if I got on the bullhorn to say there's no vaccines left? I'll give you a headstart to the car." I didn't say anything then for fear of losing my mind and causing a riot. We got our shots and left. Monroe County should have known better than to schedule these clinics without so much as a plan of organization. All in all, a horrible experience.
