There are thousands of people who choose not to be insured. There are thousands who cannot afford to be insured. What's wrong with the programs that exist?!! Nationalized health-care does not and will not work...look at Canada and the UK....
When the people elect someone to represent them that's what they should do, not their personal agenda. Unfortunately healthcare is a hot button debatable issue over haves and have nots. Even if it is nationalized the debate and arguments will continue.

I did not understand one thing in this story. Massa made no sense and neither did the reporter.

He should be removed from office immediatly. His wages should stop immediatly. The voters are the boss, not him. He should be repremanded for insubordination.

He has told the voters to go skrew themselves, and he has insinuated that the VOTERS ARE STUPID.

FIRE HIM NOW!

Massa has ticked so many off with one statement. Keep in mind some of the incumbents do not come out and say it, but do it - vote against what the majority want.

Starting with this election, look at the records of your elected officials and make a conscious decision to vote the out the greedy, selfish, dishonest and lazy incumbents that are doing things that hurt you and your families. I only hope there are decent candidates to run against the incumbents. Elections have become the choice of the lesser of two evils.

Republican= government doing EVERYTHING, ANYTHING to help big and uberbuisiness.(Lowering pollution standards, allowing previously protected animal to be hunted, lessening fraud and embezzlement standards).

Democrat= helping everyone under 200$ a year income. The majority of the working class.

Congrats Eric. You have accomplished in 7 months what takes most politicians years to achieve, the arrogance to disregard your constituents and do whatever the heck YOU want. After Nov.2010 election you will be "former" congressman Massa. Now thats 'CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN'.

I have said this in another post. No matter what the people say, I feel these dimwits are going to pass an insane bill anyways. Their arrogance has been shown time and time again.

Historyteacher, I completely agree. This system has NOT been proven to work in other countries, and as tax-payers it will only be causing us to lose even more from our paychecks; while not giving us the personalized coverage we are currently allowed to choose. As someone who is starting out in this world on my own and looking to bring a family into it someday, I'm truly worried about the direction our country is headed.

Is this district hes in a poor district who wants the country to support them?

And from what Ive seen so far its not just republicans who are in the pockets of lobbyists and big corporations. Do you not know that what ever congressman gets a seat immediately get baraged with lobbyists and most so far seem to have given in....in both parties. And they simply wont even make it easy to access information such as pet projects attached to bills they pass. We simply havent put enough pressure on them. Everytime we do they change the subject by creating another mess to smokescrean it.

You define the political parties in broad generalities. The democrats are not helping the working class...they are giving everything free to the poor and the lazy abusers of our economic system. You really need to read the facts and investigate them to find the truth. All news media is as bad as the politicians, and report their skewed version of the news.

I do not think you can vote just based on political affiliation. You need to understand the ethics and morals of each candidate.

It seems like they vote more for the projects then for the bill. thats why they usually make the bill so benign, so it wont matter. That is unless its something to further their agenda....then it will be huge and hide a multitude of small dangerous items.

Unfortunately this is a symptom of today’s politics. The politicos know what is best for us whether it is local state or national. None of us can think for ourselves or make the best decisions in life. To a great extent they are correct. Most of us sit back and complain and do little about term limits, tort reform, welfare for work reform or simply visiting the polls every two years. We elect people to office that have or could not make it in the private world. We allow to be vilified candidates from the private sector who may have looked twice at a secretary or coworker 30 years ago. So why would we be surprised that we end up with the Eric Massas of the world telling us what is good for us. Practically every program that government has been involved in is over budget and/or a failure.

Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, The Fast Ferry, Renaissance Square, Midtown Plaza, the state highway system and many many more. The vast majority have good working healthcare programs. The few need to be served. Tort reform needs to be put in place, but it won’t be because most politicians are lawyers. We are moving too fast on Healthcare reform for all the wrong reasons. Ask your Representative, Senator to slow it down and do it the right way for a change.

Massa refused to work when he got to albany. Now that he has decided to work you critisize him for doing what he wants!! If we shut our mouths he will soon tell us what to think, just be patient.
Healthcare!! In 2007 BC/BS performed health assesments on subscribers through Anthem. High risk people will be unable to buy healthcare and employers will be discouraged from hiring them. One way or another we all pay for everyones healthcare already.

This political grandstanding. Just like Lee saying he supported no raises. I hope all teh Greece Dems see through this as Massa comes out in support of Maloney at the "Black Tie Event". This is no differant than stunts of the republicans, but party pushers refuse to see the wolf in sheep's clothing.
Yeah you RJ and sheeple.

he is suppose to vote for his constituents. he is voting for HIS OWN interests. vote him out,but that won't happen because the Democrats are blind mice that can onpy follow and not think on their own- what a shame it is that our country has withered to since the founding fathers penned the Constitution. I fear for my children and grand children with people like Massa in power.
as someone who lives and works among these folks,i'd say your comment is off the mark.these are great people, but have been poorly informed under represented for 50 years.congressman massa is right to vote for his constituents best interests.has for your comment on our nations "withering" since its founding, maybe you should read the actual history of our nation.lots of great books to chose from writen by real scholars, not the clowns we must of read from!
