Well now, if the town board and folks that pitched a fit would work together to do something about getting other (but not so large) business in here and imporve the look of what is now a PITIFUL Main Street, they might go somewhere.

Oh,and to 'Who cares'...
Obviously many people care or this would not be in the news.

Hey "Catch",
The next town board meeting is the 5th of October. It was moved to the town hall (from Elim) on TUESDAY! That's right, TUESDAY.
You can count on people who opposed WalMart to stay vigilent until we have the Comprehensive plan adopted (which will surely be an interesting debate), and then do whatever an inviting, open government will allow to help bring development that matches what the citizens of Lima express in that comprehensive plan.
I have said many times that this was alwys a land use issue and now with WalMart out of the way (or so it seems), we can focus on that as a community.

OK, You won the battle with you insults, intimidation and bad manners. You've had your celebration and your 15 minutes of fame. Now it's time to take down your ugly stupid signs with their "Never Any Money in Lima" frowny faces that have made a laughing stock out of our town. Too bad our local merchant lost out on his signed and accepted offer from WM to buy his land on the opposite side of the road that is zoned commercial.
It seems that there must be an Indian lover in our midst.lol Let's see how you do fixing up our dumpy Main St.Maybe you can ask Honeoye Falls how they're going to fill all their empty buildings. Good luck.

Are you sure about that merchant losing out? WM is only pulling out of the request for rezoning of the Jolly farm.

A secret is only a secret if ONE person knows it. Rumor or secret.... the future will tell.

No matter what happens, Lima needs a serious face lift.

Well, where do I begin.......
I guess I'll start with the fact that insults, intimidation, and bad manners seems to be a "stretch" when reviewing various groups conduct over the past few months and then assigning that specific behaviour to just one of those groups.
Secondly, the neverinlima.org website is asking people to take the "frowny face" signs down for now but to keep the moratorium now signs up.
Thirdly, the community needs to work on the comprehensive plan. that's right, all of us no matter what our opinions. It is only by working together that we can give our elected officials the guidance they will need in coming to a final approval of what the people of Lima want for our town when it comes to development, parks,Building maintenance and standards etc. The fact that WalMart is not the focus anymore will hopefully pave the way to better definition of what Lima's future should be, determined through community coming together to debate it, and express it .

Good Luck with that! It's pretty hard for a community to come together again after some of them have been called names, laughed at and have been talked over or booed when they tried to make their point.People sometimes forgive but they never forget. There are a lot of people in this town that have been made to feel like second class citizens.Good job!
Too bad you can't afford a real four hundred thousand dollar house in Mendon where you belong.

The town board meeting is on the 5th. I look forward to a community debate on the topic that is as intellectually challenging as the one you are trying to make here........

You are a Hoot and I would really love to meet you.
I don't often get to mix with the Upper Class but I heard there is a sale at Wal-Mart that night.

You left out one thing -- If the people who worked so hard to prevent new business would work as hard to improve Lima instead of offering suggestions and sitting on their butt wanting to direct we might accomplish something. Many of these people don't shop in town and some don't even spend half the year here. Do you see these people volunteering? Some give their time to the Museum and that is a dirty dingy place, too. What Lima needs is civic minded workers who realize that we are out of balance with the times. Business is not going to attempt to come to Lima, not after this. Who wants the pain? Twenty or thirty years ago the planning board gave Lima a reputation that we did not want business. The biggest retailer tries to break this reputation and see what happens. We might just as well accept the fact that we are a bedroom community and pay the ever growning tax burden or move out. When you are only content with the past you have no future.

I have a question on your last paragraph, re: Indian lover. What is an Indian in your opinion? An angtoque motorcyle, a Native American, or possibly a resident of India? An Indian lover, could apply to any or all of these. Having some Native American blood, and having friends from India, I do not understand what that comment has to do with the subject of Walmart in Lima.

It seems that too many people posting to these forums have taken the basic question or concern of whether or not Walmart should build on the east side of 15A (or anywhere in Lima) to many and varied other things. I wonder if the people of our town will be able to get together and try to plan for the future of our town that is best for the survival of the town itself.

I was refering to the Signed Commitment from WM to buy a piece of property on the commercial side of 15A that was squashed because there would have to be a Indian research done costing so much money that WM gave up.(Over a million dollars) It is interesting that there was one done a few years ago costing many thousands of dollars on the same land. Also that there was no need for one for the other businesses that have sprung up on that side of the road.
None of this matters now but I sure don't want anyone to get the wrong impression of what I meant.
