everybody at the woolls school knows that the talent show was staged. they brought in judges from san antonio because the principal wanted it judged by someone who did'nt know people here. well, the principal is from san antonio and at least one of the judges was very well known by the school district. it gets even better. all the doctors' kids and restaurant owners son came in first, second or third. did the non-affluent children really have a chance or will they ever have a chance? stand up for your kids and have real judges do the judging. do something for your kids for once. make your voice heard. go to school board meetings and pto meetings and voice your opinions. learn what your and your childrens rights are. from what i understand very few or none of the gifted and talented kids made it. even some of the children were saying that the judging was obviously rigged. listen to your childrens complaints and follow through by questioning the school administrators. if you are not satisfied with their answers investigate further, but don't give up! THIS IS ONLY A CHIP OF THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG.

~~WOW~~ when i read this to my family they started laughing because months ago when my daughter was talking about this talent show. My older son told her he already knew who was going to win. He said it was going to be the doctors kids or the other goodie goods. My sister told him not to be saying that. That its not right and that not going to happen. I cant wait to show her this. I didn't see the talent show so i cant really judge the kids. what did the kids do to win?

Here we go again with our school mentors always siding with a predominant name or those who have money here in Hondo.
The "Good Ole Boy" system here in Hondo is much too great.
My family is well off and, yes, we are white, but we know how this town works. If you go against the grain, you go against the money.
Hondo will never change, until we get someone who will stand up to these bigots.
It infuriates me how we allow this to happen in our wonderful community.
We need to come together and stand up for our kids, our future. Who will stand with me and form a committee to bring these issues to our School Board, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and anyone else who will listen and lead us in the right direction as to who we need to be talking with to break this ugly cycle of predominant last names taking over our schools.
It is just not right!!!!!!!!

Sad to say but it will always be like this. The only thing you can do is move or home school your child.

I agree with everything that is being said here. They definetly werent giving out any rewards for talent, more like for "names".

I was there too and the piano playing and the little girl that danced were the only ones that actually deserved to win.(atleast for the 5th grade part) I saw some kids that did not win that definately should have. Im sorry but that 1 boy that won for singing in 5th grade was not nearly as good as the other boy that got up there and sang. All i know is it certainly didnt take them long to choose the right kids names.

Y'all are ridiculous,,,and no my kid did not win. I just accept talent when I see it (at least for the 4th grade). I was just happy my child chose to participate and I told her so instead of acting childish and blaming others. God Bless you all!!

GOD bless you to, but I suggest that you ask God to remove the distorting lenses off of you.

I agree with you. Pick a time, place and date when we can get together and see if we can work on a solution. It's time to get our schools back and give every child an even break.

you need to do some more research on the judges for the talent show. The music teacher had nothing to with the judging of the talent show. No one in their right mind would blame her. She has been a breath of fresh air for the school music program. If you remember the chaotic musical last year you would know where i am comming from.
