Need a fresh face in at coach who can get more wins every season. More wins equals more people showing up at the games......more money for the kids athletic programs.

Can't get much worse than averaging 4.2 wins per year. I don't know why he's still there. No school lets a coach stick around that long with a career 40% winning percentage.

You don't know what you are talking about and that's the truth! Something I see you know nothing about as those numbers do not have anything to do with facts! The football program has evolved leaps and bounds forward from where it was when Coach Hubbard started. Honaker is a small town and suffers from small town numbers out for football as well as the other sports. I can't even imagine saying these things about Tom Harding and he has never been to a state championship and certainly deserves to have a state championship. Again when you have a small number of boys out for any sport; competition among teammates creates a sense of entitlement for positions and true effort and dedication in the off season is not usually there. Everyone wants to be a winner, but not everyone wants to do the things that it takes to be a winner! So please don't let everyone on topix see your ignorance!

I've played for Hubbard 4 years now, we may not have been the best group thats ever came through Honaker. But I do know that if anytime during those 4 years i was there, we got a new coach, I would have quit on the spot. That man loves his job and he's VERY dedicated to what he does. It's not his fault he only has 6 or 7 dedicated players a year. That's not gonna give you a winning season. But as far as Hubbard, he's a great person and Loves his football. I would hate to see him leave!

Hey "BIG CAL HUNA" don't put down Tom Harding or baseball. You have to win games in baseball in order to get there, not by how many games other teams win by to go.The only time the football team played in the state championship was when Heath Miller was there and that tells you why they was there, and it had nothing to do with the coaching. Heath Miller got where he is at today because of his DAD & MOM not by Coach Hubbard....So don'r show your ignorance..........

@ Big Cal Huna: Those numbers are the facts !!!!!! Take a look around America and tell me how many high school, college and pro teams keep a coach around if they continuously have a losing record? Let me answer it for you....none.

I am NOT talking about the kids that play, and not about Hubbard personally. I am talking about Hubbard as a coach. He is sub par.
Winning gets more people into the stands which in return creates revenue for the athletic programs for the said school. Simple economics 101.

For reference take a look at Appalachia High School during the coaching years of Tom Turner. Small enrollment equal to that of Honaker, and then look at the number of wins to go along with Regional Championships and State Championships !!

I think most of the people who always be trashing Honaker football have probably never even played. Coach Hubbard was a great high school player, great college player, and he is a great coach.

Silence Dog ooder,
You need to open your eyes and shut your mouth because Honaker Football has grown leaps and bounds under Coach HubbardÂ’s tenure. Football at HHS pays the bills for all the sports teams at Honaker. The new field surface was put in by Mr. Bowerbank and started as conversation between himself and Coach Hubbard.
Baseball Fan, I never said that Coach Hubbard could win every game by himself or for that matter neither did Heath Miller. There were several team members and other coaches that formed that equation! It certainly was a huge blessing to have Heath as the quarterback and safety. You guys or gals that have an agenda to bad mouth the football coach do so from a position of ignorance of the sport of football (in my opinion). I would never bad mouth Tom Harding, but was only trying to demonstrate how absurd your accusations about Coach Hubbard are.
The coaching job that he did this year was one of his best as I wouldn't have given that crew a chance to win two games this season. They went further than anyone would have guessed. Appalachia, powell Valley and Clintwood all have had the pleasure of having a sense of dedication and committment from their players that has not caught on at Honaker up to this point with the exception of the team Miller was on. Clintwood had 31 players in the weight room 6 days a week every week during the off season. That kind of dedication starts at home and we all know that kind of commitment isn't there.

The big Huna is right on. Hubbard is a good coach. He lifts those kids up when he needs to. HHS is lucky to have a field like the big boys. I dont agree with his play calling sometimes but I am not the coach. We did have some good players show up this year on the defensive line and some good players on the offense as well. With the people we have coming back next year and some hard work we can have another fun year. Go Tigers

Listen here everyone! Nobody understands better then his daughter what my Dad goes through every season because he puts his heart and soul into his coaching! None of you on here bashing him know how much time he takes away from my mom, my brother, and me, or how many sacrifices we make for him to do his job! Just this season I played 15 volleyball games and he was able to make it to a total of 1 of them because of football, and he's the main reason I even played! Even with his hectic schedule he took the time to work with me and help me get ready for it! They ended up having a great season and came a long way from where they started! What other coach could take a losing team in the beginning of the season and end up taking them to play for Regional Playoffs! GO BASH SOMEONE ELSE AND LEAVE MY DAD ALONE!!!

Let me state this one last time. I am NOT talking about Coach Hubbard as a person.I am stating that as a coach I am wondering why the school would keep someone so long that averages winning 40% of their games. 4.2 wins per year over his career. NO athletic program keeps a coach around who loses, not in high school, college or the pros.

You don't know what in the world you are talking about!!!! Look at Honaker's stats cause obviously you are looking at someone else's! Coach Hubbard has taken the Honaker football program and built it vastly over the years! He is one of the greatest coaches in this area, and I GUARANTEE he knows much more about football than YOU do! Did you go to college on a full FOOTBALL scholarship?? That's what I thought!! Next to Heath Miller, he is probably the greatest player to ever come from Honaker! So, like Kaitlen wisely quoted, "GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO BASH!!!!!"
