The only thing Harvey has going for them is the YMCA Senior Building. That is it. They put that up and now they think that is it. There are development all around Harvey. Not Harvey! The kids do not have anything to look forward to in Harvey. There is nothing here!! What ever I do with my kids it is out of Harvey. I live here and attend church that’s it. If it wasn’t for the church trying all they can, the kids would not have anything to do. My kids don't even go to school here. The schools are the worst I ever seen them. When you try to get answers or do anything, the city want response. You have to go to the news / papers to be heard. The meetings they fight pretty much the whole meeting. Nothing is accomplished. The town is sorry. From the day I bought property in Harvey I have regretted every minute. I have been trying to sell/move but no one wants to buy. I don't blame them I don't want to stay here. When the opportunity comes I am running fast and will not look back!!! This town is being ran as their own piggy bank. Only the administration benefits. And the Mayor don’t live here. He lives in a town that is not ran by himself. In one of the better neighborhoods in the south suburbs. Isn’t that something.

True Kellogg is far worse than Graves. This dude is like the Larry Hoover of Harvey. He looks clean but beneath the surface you will find dirt. I just hope the Feds have all the dirt they need to start sweepin. His croonies will be going also and end up serving time in the pen as ex-cops. What a life awaits those who do dirt. Karma is a B----.

They could have just kept Nick Graves in as mayor. Nick was crooked too but at least he kept the streets cleaned and built Harvey up. Kellogg is just straight raping Harvey!!

Juan, it's stupid comments like that only show how dumb you are. I bet you have family in Harvey or better yet came from here. Why you drive all the way to Harvey to look at some azz? None up there? See it's punks like you that make the crime rate go up cause you come out here not knowing what awaits you. But hey it's summer and I know some cats that love jackin stupid dudes that frequent strip clubs. The parking lots aren't safe and have no security so hittin then is easy. Go look at some butt elsewhere, maybe you will live to tell about it.

Those alderman won't make a move unless Kellogg agrees. The preacher's are in his pocket also except for the church on 149th St. In every facet of improving this town will have to start with the people of Harvey who don't have the tools they need for the children to be positive citizens in the future. Everything that use to be good for Harvey has been driven out of town and most folks there now don't come from Harvey so they don't know the positive town it once was, they only know what they see. If I had the loot this town have what it deserves. And it would be done without the mayor's influence. Don't need him. It's a shame he won't take advantage of govt. programs that have money to burn. And to think this dude is a educator, if anything Harvey's schools should be up to speed.

For what it is worth to all the people who have posted...I live in Harvey and have lived here for 30+ years. I will take my best shot at making one last phone call to the good Mayor of Harvey..of which I have done for several years with no sign of him answering my questions. People do care, and would love to jus see Harvey improve a little. Things will never be the way they "used to be" when we were kids.

True, Harvey was already in trouble long before Kellogg became mayor. But if you look back to the days when he was an alderman he would shoot down everything positive that was brought to the table. In my opinion that contributes to the downward slide Harvey has been in for the past 30+years. Now that he is a second term mayor he hasn't done anything but hire idiots who have a checkered past, make very bad business decisions with it's my way or the highway attitude, run the dope game in Harvey through his hired croonies and not ensuring the streets are safe for my kids. Oh and let's not get on the police dept. Harvey residents pay some of the highest taxes in Cook and yet you don't see where it's being spent. 911 surcharge in place for at least 6yrs. Garbage tax also, along with utility taxes which all come back to the Harvey general fund. These monies are supposed to be spent on making Harvey better but I haven't seen it.

Where are the parents? Where are the community leaders? Where is anyone who is industrious, ethical, and has the backbone to do what is right for all the people of the community - but most of all for Harvey's youth??

These kids are sinking horribly. I'm curious to know the drop-out rate in the area. These parents need to come together and collectively work on being hard-working, productive members of society so their children can have positive role models.
