Police blotter ::Midlothian GANG Member Caught with Loaded Gun.

There are 177 comments on the www.southtownstar.com story from Aug 15, 2010, titled Police blotter ::Midlothian GANG Member Caught with Loaded Gun.. In it, www.southtownstar.com reports that:

WEAPONS CHARGES Steven Calderon, 17, 14542 Ridgeway Ave., Midlothian, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a street gang member and unlawful use of a weapon after police found him with a loaded handgun Aug. 7 in a parking lot in the 3900 block of 147th Street, police said.

More great work by our Police, but this is ridiculous. A 17 year old walking around with a loaded gun, at least the chief has to say there is a gang problem here now and I hope they get more of these punks out of our town and sitting in jail where they belong. How would you like to have him next door to you or your family.

If they caught one of these cockroaches, it makes you wonder how many more are out there. Usually when you catch one, there are many more hidden.

I love it, print the exact address of these POS's, that way we know our neighbors.

He will probably get out on probation and end up killing an innocent child just like the punk that shot the two girls jumping rope a few days ago. He was 17 and was on probation for having a loaded handgun. Sound familiar. Cook county needs to lock these guys up for a good long time, and let big bubba be his cell "mate". Here is the story about the POS that killed the one girl a seriously wounded the other.
http://www.suntimes.com/news/24-7/2599378,ros...

"Prosecutors say he was convicted of a felony gun possession charge two months ago and remains on probation. Brisco also had a juvenile burglary conviction." If he was locked up, this would not have happened.

Where the hell are this kids parents?? When I was 17 the only thing I wanted to do was skateboard and chase girls. This country is in big trouble unless people start parenting! Pay attention to your kids or don't have them!!

If you ever get the chance, read "Welcome to the Monkey House" by Kurt Vonnegut. It's a futuristic sci-fi short story about the government stepping in and regulating people's reproductive systems. Great Read

This kid probably runs the house, it sounds like a single mother, she should show him the front door is what she should do or call the police and ask them to search her kids room, I am sure they would not mind doing that. After a while he will leave on his own.

Its not a shop its a range, and its on Kedzie. But this address is correct, unless he no longer lives there.

That's all I was trying to say. Maybe they meant Kildare like they meant to say Kedzie. Obviously they make mistakes on stuff like this and the editors don't do a very good job of verification.

Uh, what's wrong with being raised by a Single Mother? I was! Only reason was because my Dad died when I was 14 and that's been 41 years ago that he died. I was never in trouble. I've been driving for 39 years and "knock on wood" never ever been pulled over. Not all single Parents are bad Parents. If something ever happened to you and your Wife had to raise your twins and one of them as they got older, had an "incident" would that be the fault of your Wife? As a Parent, we can only do so much as we raise our children and no matter how we try, things can happen.

Where did I say there was something wrong with being raised by a single mother, I was since the age of 7. It depends on the mother and her knowledge of knowing how to get help when it is needed. We had the Bremen youth Committee to go to when I was young and then a I was a JR counselor there for their summer camp in Eagle River Wis. My mom would not hesitate to call the police on any of us when we were growing up, even at 5'2 she ruled the house over 3 boys all around 6 foot tall, and full of energy. No matter what you do, kids are going to mess up, it depends on how bad they mess up. This guy is already a known gang member and was walking around with a loaded handgun, not a bb or pellet gun, but an actual firearm. He probably has tattoos showing his gang affiliation. Yes a strong woman can raise a family, but also with the help of friends and family. I always had a man I could talk to through my growing years, and she made sure of it. It just seems some single mothers do better jobs then others. I was just giving advice that my own mother would have done when I was that age.

I had 2 older Brothers that were there also. My Mom never even had to think twice about calling the Police for anything. Actually, I was never even grounded in my life.I just had too much respect for my Mom and the times she was having and I've been working since I was 14 because when I knew my Dad wasn't going to live, I went out and got a job at 14 because I didn't think she should have to pay a whopping $22.50 for me to pay for my High School fees. Yeah, a long time ago but still. If the person in question IS a known "banger" then he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Exactly, you even want to disagree when we agree. I bused tables (flappers in Crestwood)at 14, worked in a bakery at 15, paid for all my fees cars insurance and college. Lets just say my older brothers were not exactly angels, at the time Mr Barth was a juvenile officer at OFHS, and I had a few chats with him, and knew I could alway talk to him as well as some other teachers. I also had my best friends dad that would set me straight. My mom did call the cops on my brother for truancy and when he was drunk and ran off. I did not want anything to do with that, but of course did have some problems, nothing like carrying a loaded gun and being a gang member.

This "kid" will have a felony on his record for life as he is being charged as an adult, great start in adulthood.

The "range" at 143rd & Kedzie is the Midlothian Police Department Range. You can't go there except for the competition shoots that they have there.

I like how my post are judged. This has nothing to do with the police range, it has to do with the element that is in or own. So keep giving me bad judgments, but the truth is the truth.
