Police need to act on common sense, the manual doesnt say a thing about it.If the cops didn't pursue, they would be accused of not doing their job. If the police do pursue and the driver gets hurt, it's always the cops fault... with the public's attitude, the cops can never win.
A person can make a decision to run from the cops, and if they do, they should know that the cops will follow them. The police have lots of training for chases, criminals usually don't. From watching the news, World's wildest/scariest/deadliest police chases, Cops, etc., it should be common knowledge that you could get killed running from the cops. It's a risk, and if you're willing to take it, you should be willing to pay the price.
No, it is not worth losing our children over such poor choices. They need to stop making poor choices, like running from the cops, or stealing cars. My generation (I'm 22) needs to learn responsibility. Parents are too worried about being a kid's best friend or themselves, rather than being a parent.
It's either black or white to a cop, they dont know gray areas, this was a gray area.
