Why is it that we have such a poor parish when we have a lake that could draw great tax revenues? A little development of small shops with boat tie ups would draw boaters on the lake from the state park and those out fishing. Put these shops at the North end of the lake and visitors might even go into Homer. Making Homer a tourist town brings big business, jobs, and tax revenue to make life better for us all. Anyone else got a suggestion?

Appears the problem is lack of interest. For the record I am from Homer, not Pacific, MO

Funny, if it isn't bad news or a scandal then the interest in talking about it is nill. I guess this is why the news always reports the bad in the world and seldom the good.
Claiborne Parish has so much good to offer, both in tourism and in jobs but it seems people here would rather sit back and spend their money in other Parishes for entertainment. What a waste.

I grew up on claiborne and a job has moved me a little over an hour away, but almost every weekend my wife & I are in our boat on the Lake..
we've been to dozens of other lakes in Ar & La yet we still come back to claiborne..I think the potential is there, just no interest..

Locals refer to it as Lake Claiborne, or "The Dead Sea" by local fisherman. 25 to 30 yrs ago when Claiborne Parish was vibrant and flourishing the lake had potential---All that is now gone, and Claiborne Parish is a very sad place to visit. It will always be home, but there is no opportunity anymore---certainly nothing to persuade folks to move there and raise their families.
