I just heard that Laurel Ward is running for Mayor. Great. My choice is going to be either her or Jim Daley? We are screwed. I once thought she was a level-headed, do-the-right-thing kind of Trustee, until I read her quote after LTHS School Board voted against Homer's ridiculous plan for a new school. She said that it's time for Homer Glen to look towards detaching from the district and forming they're own school district. What!!!???? Where has she been? Has she not heard that, not only is it nearly impossible, the majority of Homer Glen residents ARE OPPOSED TO FORMING OUR OWN SCHOOL DISTRICT!!

I realize there are a lot of loud mouths in Homer Glen that make the rest of us look bad, but trust me when I say that there are much more of us that are in agreement with Lockport and Crest Hill residents when it comes to the high school issues. We can't afford higher taxes. We like District 205. We don't need a new high school at this time. Enrollment is down. If anything, right now, build an addition onto East. You need voter approval to try and detach. We will not support detachment. I will not vote for any mayoral candidate that supports detachment or the hidden agenda plan for a new high school.

Why did an otherwise intelligent woman make such an inflammatory statement? To the media no less. And where does she send her boys to high school? Providence. Laurel, why don't you listen to the people of Homer Glen who actually send their kids to Lockport High School before voicing your opinion. We are struggling big time financially, unlike you and your immediate circle of stuck-up, elitist friends.

If she stands strong, and with the Polkes, on the high school issue, we have two horrible candidates for Mayor. Someone else needs to throw their hat in the ring...Mary Niemic, where are you?

If you have been at any HG meetings recently, you would know that Ms. Niemiec has also mentioned detachment, possibly more emphatically than Mrs. Ward. Mary is very much in favor of "researching other options" when it comes to the high school issue. In fact, the only HG Trustee who is not in favor of HG being in the 'education business' is Mrs. Sabo. For that reason and more, I believe Ms. Niemiec would would be at the bottom of my list. Sorry.

How about this, she votes for the sales tax and then says she is going to rebate it to us. HUH?! If you are going to rebate the tax why did you vote for it in the first place? She wants to float a $7 million bond to buy a farm. We all don't have $100 door knobs in our house. I wish you would go off into the yonder with Petrizzo. Horrible elected officials. Being untruthful. Sneaking around behind closed doors. Insulting the voters and residence. Time to go!

Sabo - it seems to be she's only interested in planting prarie gardens and spending our money in Home Depot's garden section.

How about protecting our residential borders from encroaching industrial development and widening roads. Focus your green energy there.
