I remember my parents and neighbors, trying to get to a St. Pat's Day dance in Seaford, back in 1955 or 56 and being turned back by the heavy snowfall. Still made baby-sittng money since they got home late anyway....I hope the Island gets some snow...it's not good for drivers(did it for 32 yrs) good for local economy, and it helps replenish the aquifer for water. Here in FL, our rainstorms, are LI's snow squalls.

I heard a rumor that there may be a two part story of how it is light during the day and dark at night. I never would have known that it did not snow here otherwise. Thank you Newsday.

A little snow would be nice!

Hello Newsday,
Is there anyone at home? Do you know news or anything?
1: Winter is not even half over.
2: Look in your archives and look up top ten snowstorma of LI, and you'll notice that probably something like 7 were in February.

What a non story, shows lack off research

I think you guys are a bit premature about a snowless winter. There's still 7 weeks left - we're barely at the halfway point. Yes, it's been warm and wet so far. But now that you had to say it out loud, watch the darn jetstream change course and dump 6 feet of snow on us next week!

Try this again on March 21st - when spring starts!

Who needs it! It's dangerous enough driving on Long Island. Add snow to the mix of SUV idiots and speeding morons and you will have a disaster.

Hey Newsday. We still have all of Febuary and March to go.
We can still end up with record snowfall. Vermont broke a 10 year record for snow in December.

Surprise they did not blame global warming.

I can remember several years where it snowed in April. The blizzard of 77 or 78, lots of snow and it was April. Newsday did a lot of research as usual. Im betting on a white Easter. History will tell you that Long Island gets hit usually in the later winter. Hello, Newsday?!!!!

Welcome to February when we have had record breaking snowfalls. I hope we have a blizzard. I like seeing people get stuck with their SUV's who can't drive.
