What is so wrong with this generation of kids where at 17 years old (as close to being legally grown w/o being 18) you think it is not only OK, but also fun to ride on the bumper of a car, SUV, etc.? What is wrong with their parents for letting them be outside at that time of morning? 17 IS NOT grown; most are still in high school. You can't even legally drive in NYS at 17. It's funny how everyone talks about Blacks and Hispanics kids', but look at these three (3) dumb a$$ WHITE boys. Matter of fact, let's examine this issue of Newsday with two (2) main stories about dumb a$$, misguided, bored WHITE boys. The three (3) fools in this story and the two (2) nuts in the Connetquot H.S. shooting plot. Hey White people, looks like your kids are just as crazy and stupid and misguided as others. Stop acting like your superior to other races and ethnicities because in each there are a destructive few. You have people that "hate Black people" yet OUR Hip-Hop music and culture has infused every aspect of life from the music and artists your kids listen to, to the way they dress and talk. Look at commercials today, Hip-Hop is everywhere even in Volkswagen ads; hell, Snoop Dogg is one of Hugh Hefner's best friends! We (Black folks) aren't the ones running to tanning salons and to the beach to get that perfect tan also known as making our skin darker. No, that's not to be like anyone else (US) right?! One of your last statements; "how people who are insecure with themselves tend to be loud....", says it all. Your entire rant does! You, too, are insecure!! As far as the rest of your diatribe, yes there are MANY misguided, crazy kids, both black and white! Yes there are great black teachers, doctors, inventors, musicians, as there are white! I like a healthy tan in the summer, but it is not because I want to be black! As proud as you are to be black, I am to be white...so please, STOP!
What this story demonstrates is the total lack of compassion of this generation! How could you be a friend when you leave one for dead in the road? May other issues need addressing, like what is a 17 yr. old doing out at this hour in the morning? Kids are so bored that riding on bumpers is fun? Again, this is a wake up call for parents, the teens of today are a wayward bunch! Spoiled rotten, set free without limits, and lacking proper parental supervision! If you have children, do your job! Teach them right from wrong, teach them responsibility and compassion, and when they do make a mistake, to own up to it! Children learn from example, so maybe we need to take a closer look at ourselves!

I was a LI parent and can tell you the parents may have been asleep after a long work week, thinking/knowing their kids had met their curfew....only to find out they went right out afterward. Many parents do drop the ball as their kids get to be teenagers and become much more difficult, I agree. But parenting is an almost impossible job these days (depending upon the temperment of the child)-especially in the LI environment!
Before you comment about the parents without knowing them, perhaps we should work on our society's demand for everything liberal at all costs! and then blaming parents and children for just living in that society!....Black and White alike!
