Live grenade from Shinnecock Canal detonated

The Shinnecock Canal was closed for more than five hours after a fisherman saw a grenade -- which turned out to be live -- in the water near the east bank of the canal, the Suffolk sheriff's office said.

I would almost guarantee that this was a fake grenade that can be purchased in any Army/Navy store. Why would a real grenade be in a foot of water near a canal. This story like No Newsday smells fishy !!!! Not enough facts, just hype.

And the SCPD just wanted to play with their toys and blow it up. Stoped traffic in the canal and hway for 5 hrs.
