Cops: Girl, 16, killed in Holtsville drunken driving crash

A Centereach teen was charged with driving while intoxicated after a late-night crash claimed the life of a 16-year-old Selden girl who was a passenger in his sport utility vehicle, police said Monday.

Its more sad that a 19 year old was driving drunk and speeding down Woodside Avenue AGAIN! When will these dopey teenagers and early twenties kids learn how to drive correctly???

Very sad about the girl, but if she knew the driver was drunk, some sympathy can be lost. I hope they prosecute the driver to the fullest extent possible. We have enough of age people driving while drunk - we don't need underage ones, too.

What is this, the second time in a month or two that some young girl is out driving with some guys a few years older and the girl was not wearing a seatbelt? This time the driver was drinking? Smell a trend? What happened to common sense...or better yet, a want for survival? Where the hell are the parents. Hell, it was a sunday night at almost 12:00. Do these kids even go to school?

I'm sorry but this happening far too much...there IS a problem. Somewhere along the lines, something is breaking down and this is the end result. Keep calling things like this 'accidents' and say that parents aren't to blame and it'll just keep happening. You think you're doing the right thing by being sensitive to everyones feelings but that's what is getting these kids killed to begin with.

Instead of figuring out how to keep up with Chinas math curriculum, teachers should be showing students pictures of their fellow classmates after accidents such as this one, maybe drive it through their head to maybe be a LITTLE bit more careful. All the formal education in the world doesn't help much when you don't have enough common sense instilled in you to keep yourself out of unbelievable dumb situations in order to stay alive.

And I hope the driver gets the book, and whatever else anyone can find thrown at him. Hell, the other passengers should be responsible as well. They all could have prevented this by stopping the drunken fucking idiot drom driving.

SCPD 6th Pct. is familiar with all these people. They ALL have been arrested. Ilvento has a court date 10/8 for crack possession. Other one for stealing...still others for heroin.

You guys all blame the kid driving. How about the other two people known to be in the car? The girl killed and the other guy? Maybe they ended up to be the vic this time but what if that truck hit you or someone you loved? The deceased girl and the other kid were just along for the ride and did nothing to stop this kid who was obviously intoxicated on something from driving. IMHO they were ALL being incredibly stupid and had no regard for anyone elses life. Sure, nobody wants to see anyone die as a result of these things but I say better them than one of us as it could have just as well been somebody else minding their own business that they hit.
