7 women arrested in welfare fraud

Seven women were arrested and charged with welfare fraud and grand larceny after they stole more than $70,000 in welfare benefits by lying on their aid applications, Nassau prosecutors said Tuesday.

In a prepared statement, Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi said, "If you try and cheat the system in Nassau County, you will be caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
