Patchogue schools apologize to wandering boy's family

My heart goes out to the Stevenson family. As a parent of a selectively mute child this is one of my worst nightmares. Safety concerns are intensified for children with this disorder, because they are too anxious to ask for help. The school district should have a 504 in place to guarantee that this kindergartner, who cannot ask for help, is escorted in the halls and never left without adult supervision.

I could not access the article, so maybe I'm missing something here.

But it sure sounds like she'd be beyond justified to sue the shit out of the school for money if she wanted to. That isn't a tiny, harmless mistake, ya know.
