Debris shuts portion of LIE at Exit 62

Garbage, papers and other debris that fell from the back of a passing truck has closed one travel lane and the off ramp on the westbound Long Island Expressway at Nicolls Road in Holtsville.

Catch the culprit and fine him. Make an example of him. Someone must have seen this happen. There are never any consequences to dumping on Long Island. Not intentional? It doesn't matter. The driver is responsible for securing his load. Long Island has become a trash heap.

I drove through that garbage around 12:15PM. It looked like it had just happened. It was a real mess and the wind wasn't helping matters at all. I hope I don't get a flat as something hit my tire. I hope they catch the offender.

I went through the garbage about 12:45 and there wasn't a cop or clean up crew in sight. It was pretty dangerous. The article doesn't say if they caught the driver that made the mess, but I hope they did.

The driver that dumped that and continued on his way deserves to have his CDL license revoked. With a mess that size, you can't tell me he didn't see that in his mirror.

i agree. this idiot had to see or hear this crap fall off the truck. worse part is his load was not properly secured. someone could have been killed. thank god it's just a pile of trash on the highway and nothing more,however i do not make light of it.
