Ok this is easy. I looked this up on the FBI crime report page. In Excelsior Springs, Mo there are more murders, drug related crimes and registered sex offenders per capita than any city in Missouri. It is almost 3 to 1 in these three catagories.

I have been reading a lot about the crime committed last week in Excelsior. There is a senselessness about it which is just horrifying. Meth changed the chemistry of these people’s brains so much that a life meant just 500 bucks, apparently both to the victim and the killers. The victim, if she had been thinking clearly, would not have made the choice to possibly piss these people off who were jonesing for meth. She risked her life in a major way for these few hundred dollars. For what I wonder. More meth? The murderers felt the same. Life was taken execution style after they couldn’t figure out what else to do with her. Nobody involved had any presence of mind, it seemed.
In lab experiments done on animals, sex causes dopamine levels to jump from 100 to 200 units, and cocaine causes them to spike to 350 units. "[With] methamphetamine you get a release from the base level to about 1,250 units, something that's about 12 times as much of a release of dopamine as you get from food and sex and other pleasurable activities,"—Frontline PBS 2006
Wow. That’s an astounding power over someone. Add to it that this stuff quickly destroys your body’s natural ability to product its own pleasure responses and you have a potential lethal situation if someone can’t get the drug anymore. Stand between the user and drug and you have an extremely dangerous situation.
The other thing about the story that is depressing is really how common it is. It’s only gotten my attention because it happened right here and it seems they were probably decent kids at one time not long ago. It couldn’t have been too long ago because they weren’t any of them that old. That’s the real tragedy of it, is how far and how fast these people fall. This stuff isn’t pot where people hang out in a basement all day long and watch cartoons and giggle. This stuff makes people desperate. Desperate, hyper and psychotic, the worst possible combination. They apparently lose all sense of the world. It’s like someone said on the message board,“a devil drug”. True, if ever there were a devil drug, this is it.
I hope that Excelsior really does try to clean this stuff up. Because if folks are that desperate, that a life isn’t worth but $500, then nobody is safe except maybe when sitting with a loaded gun aimed at the door.

i think its really sad that no one is seeing the real truth about this town i have had my run ins too with this type of dealings when i came to this town there was good people but they was very far and few i met alot of teawkers and trust me 500 dollars is not worth what they did to this young girl i got out of the game i work a steady job as does my husband so if any of these people was much to speak of 500 dollars would of been chump change if they would have changed their lives around rip carol i know one of these young men who murdered this young lady and he leaves behind a beautiful baby girl and she will suffer the rest of her life because of her daddys habit let this be a lesson to the young people

What kind of people live in EX SP... I just read in the paper where a young man was trying to out run the law and crashed the car. His passenger was thrown from the car and died... The driver ran off...He left his friend there to die... Guess where he is from???? Ex Sp... GO figure

A big disappointment hunh? As if there isnt enough of a bad "rep" of the town and the kids going around. I heard it was because he had some warrants for his arrest.? I hardly think running was worth killing his friend! These young adults need to be responsible for their actions. Stop blaming the town, the drugs and whatever else they are dabbling in and grow up and make something of themselves!! Such a sad day in a young persons life when they not only ruin their own life... but many many others! Permanently!

Amen to that. They all need to grow up, get real jobs and see that life is so much better when you do right. I know a lot of people go down the wrong road at some point in their lives whether it be drinking, drugs, partying to much or whatever, but there comes a time to grow up and move on. ESPECIALLY once you are a parent.

I agree that the town nees to be cleaned up... We live in a small town also and we have some crooked cops too.. But we as the community will not sit back and let these thugs take over.... I am a moather of a 20 and 17 year old girl... I could not imagine them throwing their lives away like this....I pray that the community will step up and take their town back...

You really need to explain why it was ok for Luke to run from the cops and hit Shirley. Luke was a meth head loser, that had nothing going for him, other than a life of crime. Burglary, adult abuse, dui, what possibly could have been good about this guy. He should have died that day too. Shirley was a good person, and she never deserved to be taken away from us like that. I hope many weiners hit his butt hole while he's in prison, and for you I hope you straighten your life up to, or you'll be in there taking your rounds at his butt hole with the rest of the booty bandits. Quit taking up for terrorist, cause that's all he was.

Here's the definition of a terrorist: "An individual who uses violence, terror, and intimidation to achieve a result. See also terrorism."

Obviously he was violent, otherwise he wouldn't have had an adult abuse charge on him. Apparently it was a girlfriend or wife because a child was present, and there's no reason for a child to be present at court unless it was his, so I would say he beat women up, which would fall into the category of using terror, and intimidation to achieve his result. I'll see you in 10 years when he's up for parole, I'll be there with MADD, and I guarantee he will not be released his first time up. Don't plan on seeing that loser till at least 2024.

Wow there TweakersAreRetards. I'm all with you man, I don't like the dude either. Chances are though man this is his mom. You're right though, he slapped around his old lady a little, but she did her fair share of slappin' too. Dude's just a little guy, he'll get taken care of in prison. Find him a real nice "daddy". No I'm just joking. For real though, back to the subject at hand.

Luke was a tweaker that killed someone, that's the only thing that he has in common with this subject. There's a lot of similarities, in the way the judicial system has been running, which prompted such names to be brought up. Lawson, I'm sure that you're probably his mom or girlfriend, and you'll probably always stick up for him. Just remember that there's a lot of pissed off people, and Luke didn't have any remorse for what he did. The woman that lost her life didn't have the same opprutunities that Carol had, she was actually an innocent bystander, Carol was not. And 2024 is not long enough, that's only 15 years, he's going to be gone a lot longer than that.
