I live here and highly recommend the laid back environment for a tranquil vacation. You don't get all the hustle and aggravation of the other coast. Beach Bistro is a James Beard award winning restaurant on the gulf. Sarasota is twenty minutes away for such destinations as St. Armands Circle (Upscale shopping), Lido Beach, Ringling Museum and plenty more. Come on down!

You absolutely must visit Anna Maria Island if you're looking for a very slow paced and creative vacationing atmosphere. The locals, as well as all of the tourists, are very pleasant and cordial to everyone on the island. The weather is absolutely stunning, and most everything you care to eat is well prepared and very tasty! This is the place to visit and/or live if you enjoy being surrounded in paradise every hour of every day.
We just returned from an 8-day vacation, and my entire family will be relocating to the Anna Maria/Bradenton area before the end of the 2008 summer!!
Have fun and visit Solo's Pizza right off Manatee Ave. on 3244 E Bay Drive (Holmes Beach).…tell Sean and Josh that Mark, Hannah and Lori sent you!
love it there

I must agree. My husband and i, we are in our late 30's vacationed there last year. We are now 4 days from going back. We loved the area. Everyone was pleasantly nice. Beach was beautiful. What else could you ask for:)

I just wish they would cut the speed limits on AMI in half and the ENFORCE the heck out of it. AMI is a beautiful place and I hope it stays that way.

Can't think of a place where I've vacationed that compares to the loveliness of Anna Maria Island. Is the long pier at the North end of the island still there? I wasn't able to sleep one night and went for a walk at 3.00 a.m.. I was amazed to find dozens of people fishing on the pier at that hour. Such a peaceful way to wile away the night.

I also had to take my daughter to the little restaurant on the pier every few days. She loved their fish and chips. So did my wife and I.
