If you want to advertize, get a bumper sticker. Government has no legal authority to promote religion.

"I Believe" these people and groups need to "get a life", "get a job", and concentrate on the really important issues. It's just a tag. If you want something different, get the 400 orders or $4,000.00 and get your tag like the people did that got the "I Believe" tag approved. This has
nothing to do with separation of church and state. Apparently these people have nothing better to do with their lives. Don't like the tag, don't buy one, don't look at it, change the channel .... geez!

I Think the ones that need to get a life and a job are people like the Lt. Governor, who spend time that every tax payer is paying him for, to promote his religion. I think the ones that need to get a life, are the ones that think they need to advertise their "faith" on a state issued document (license plate / registration).

You can say it's not a church/state issue, but I disagree. I think it most definitely is. For me, it's not about the fact that I'm excluded, it's about the fact that it gives the appearance that the state of South Carolina is promoting christianity. Intent or not, it does give that appearance. And you can't argue that it doesn't because that's pure perception and opinion, and no one can dictate another's opinions.

I purely love the "nothing better to do" argument, because it's such a stupid one. That argument could be used virtually anywhere any time. Don't you have something better to do than post here? Don't you have someone's soul to save or something?

I have better things to do, I'm just not doing them right now. I also think there are few things better to do than defending the constitution, and keeping religion off of anything my tax dollars help pay for. And yes... my tax dollars are involved, whether I support the tag or not. You don't happen to agree that it's a consitutional issue, fine I agree with and respect your right to believe that, and your right to say so. But just you sayinig it doesn't make it a fact.

I am so proud of my Lt Governor for providing this opportuntiy for SC.

Yes some of us do Believe. We Believe in the right to Believe, and others you have the right not to Believe.

No one has to purchase the tag. Let's not allow this to create division. It's another opportunity for freedom of ones speech.

our Lt Governor "allowed this to create division" when he went forward with this hair-brained idea.

I think you should have any tag you want.

You have proven yourself to be a very dedicated and loyal FSM believer.

I hope the Spaghetti Monster stays away from me. I'm doing the low carb thing right now!!!!!

DGee, please do some medical research before you harm your temple! Dr. Atkins died of a heart attack, btw.

The state is not promoting Christianity. This time..lol They are promoting belief in general. This excludes the Nihilists.

The state has 2 choices, both simple and easy:

Make a Nihilist license plate and a believer's license plate.

Or, do not make special license plates.

I was just kidding about the diet. can't live without chocolate!!!! Thanks for the concern though!

If the tag thing ever came to a vote, I would be happy to vote for no specialty tags. Go back to the old way-- one tag per state. No vanity plates either.

This tag generates extra revenue for the state. I don't understand the problem.

Actually they have stated that they will only be charging what it costs to print the tag from what I remember reading... so there is no extra revenue as far as I can tell. I could be wrong, but that is my recollection.

And if you don't understand the problem..... well, at this point it's pretty much a dead horse, anyone that doesn't understand why some folks have a problem with it never will.
