Ouch! South Florida's inflation rate outpacing nation

The nation's official inflation rate in April rose a slight 0.2 percent, but in South Florida, it sure doesn't feel that way.

Publix charges up to $.75 for 1 lemon. You can go to Costco and buy 5 lbs of beautiful lemons for $7. A much better buy.

The produce at pubix is terrible anyway...rock hard and tasteless. Where are the farmers markets?

With a recession wages will not rise either so this is just going to get worse over the near and long term.

When you're the boss..and things are going good..he gets ALL the best steaks, the handshakes, the pats on the back...

WHEN THINGS SUCK..LIKE EVERYTHING, he gets the blame too. Bush, you haven't done ONE thing that's been good your whole presidency. You've got Jimmy Carter thinking he wasn't too bad afterall!

BTW thanks for the stimulus check...I can put it towards gas, taxes, food, insurance, electric or anything else that under your illustrious guidance has gone through the roof.

Before your tenure NOT MANY NEEDED this check.

I count the days for ANYTHING different...ANYONE else...Somebody, anybody.

The GOP has presented several bills over the past 8 years to promote domestic oil drilling to drive an increase in local supply. This would offset the jump in oil futures due to our reliance on foreign oil. The democrats have blocked every single measure.

Oil is still the cheapest, most viable fuel we have. We've built our nation on it. Deprive us of it and our nation "bleeds" to death. This is the legacy of democrats in our government, not President Bush's fuel policy.

Here is the latest congressional record on the matter.

Don't blame only Bush. Blame the US House and Senate that promised to turn things around and haven't done squat. They have an even lower approval rating than Bush right now. All of them (including Bush) should have been finding strategies to help America lose dependency on oil while planning to drill for more oil on US soil. Instead we get measily tax return, no addition drilling, no addition refineries and higher gas prices. Great job guys! Bush's political career is definitely over, but the folks in Congress may not realize they are not far behind. Americans are getting fed-up with inaction.

Politicians from both parties are worthless. What I just can't understand about liberals is that since the begginning of time they have spoken out against the job are elected officals are doing and how bad our government is yet they all want a BIGGER government. This is the ultimate irony. Your success in life is going to come from good personal decisions and hard work. If you are banking on a certain candidate to come in and solve all of your problems you will probably be disappointed with the results.

How Can It Be? How can stores close? Bad business atmosphere when Democrats own every elected office in South Florida and violent criminals are passed back onto the street to attack residents in their homes and businesses.
How Can It Be? Taxes are through the roof? Democrats in government have given themselves huge salaries and massive heathcare benefits and billions of dollars are owed in future benefits to people NOT EVEN WORKING OR LIVING HERE (retirement benefits).
How Can It Be? Normal people are fleeing? Because socialist Democrats are GIVING AWAY BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN HEALTHCARE BENEFITS TO GAY TOURSITS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS THAT LOCAL TAXPAYERS ARE PAYING FOR.
How Can It Be? South Florida will collapse under total mismanagement and anarchy will rein.
How Can It Be? You cant't get an education in a public school? Hundreds of thousands of people who 'just arrived' and are given billions of dollars of public benefits without having to provide any proof of citizenship.
How Can It Be? Gas is so expensive? For 30 years Democrats have blocked oil production and power plant building in this country. Energy prices will continue to rise until people can't go out to eat - restaurants will close - go out to shop - stores will close - can't buy a house - construction will stop - can't pay for food - anarchy will explode. Prepare to die for a meal.

This is what we get for telling the world we won't drill off the Florida coast or in Alaska, yet at the same time telling other oil nations to drill more and pump more.

There is a lot of oil out there. The Mexicans recently made a huge discovery in the Gulf. The Cubans are now drilling, the Brazil made a huge find this year.

We need to drill in our country and refine in our country. Burning our crops will kill our food source and our economy.

The so called "environmentalists" have an agenda and your well being is not part of the picture.

The latest news in the newspaper states that the price of gasoline at the pump is soaring, as the price of oil is going to be getting to reach past $200 a barrel.
The fact is we URGENTLY need to rid ourselves of our dangerously heavy dependence on foreign oil. There just isn't any "wiggle room" in that fact. And what's more, we need to do it QUICK. As a nation, we are in DEEP trouble from that problem. Because AUTO VEHICLES are the major cause behind our heavy dependence on foreign oil, it can only be a positive thing for our country if private auto vehicle travel is removed.
We URGENTLY need to get to the POINT where we can send one of our top government officials (Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Vice President Dick Cheney, or even President George Bush himself) over to the oil producing countries and say to those oil producing countries straight to their face, "WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEVOTION TO US OVER THE YEARS BUT WE NO LONGER NEED YOUR OIL".

HAHAHAHAHA,They have no Say on Drilling for Oil,Their Just GRUNTS...
