Why would you be proud about something that happened by accident of birth? Save your pride for your personal accomplishments.

The rebel flag was a symbol of pride and strength in battle of all southern people black and white. It was not a racist symbol. Also the civil war was not about abolishing slavery until Lincoln added that into it later on. It was about states rights - the rights of the states to operate their own government separate from the federal govt that was trying to use too much power then.
Get the stories straight. I am not what i would call a redneck - but I am proud of the rebel flag and its southern heritage and this it should be allowed anywhere any other flag is allowed.
