This is only tragic because this young man has slipped through the legal system his entire life and become what he is today. This behavior was present when he was in his teens but never punished. Now as an adult his actions remain destructive to himself and harmful to those around him.
Throwing him in jail is not the answer but time served in a rehab for drug and alcohol offenders would be more appropriate. How long will we continue to punish drunk drivers when we prompt establishments that serve alcoholic drinks knowing its customers had to drive there to consume them. Alcohol needs to have the same stigmatism that tobacco. |
