I need to do a survey of Holliston drinking water. There has been talk about, you cannot drink the water in Holliston. I found out why. The wells are to shallow. The wells have to be down 500 feet or more. This needs to be changed for better drinking water. The DEP is waiting for questions. I 'll post a contact later, just ask.

What type of chemicals are in your drinking water,
every citizen should know what you should be drinking. Does the town say what is in the water ??

Search for - camp lejeune water

and scroll down to the 5th site. The rare cancers are not there. Holliston should be doing the same thing this site is doing.

The town must start complaining about the water or the town will not get any funding from the EPA.

All you have to do is get 100 signatures on paper and deliver that petition to Denator Kennedy Office in Boston.

Let me know if you need any help or not.

Do I need to test my water?
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection does make recommendations for when you should test you well water, how often, and what tests should be run. However, check with your local Board of Health who may have requirements for testing of new wells as well as testing at other times.
In general, it is a good idea to test well water before you buy a house with a private well, after any repairs or upgrades are made to your well, if you notice any changes to your well water taste, smell, or appearance, or if you previously had testing that indicated the water had contaminants above government standard levels.
In addition, well water in good standing should be tested on a yearly basis for bacteria and nitrate/nitrite. Testing for the following contaminants is recommended at least once every ten years:
Arsenic
Chloride
Copper
Fluoride
Hardness
Iron
Lead
Manganese
pH
Sodium
VOCs
What should I test my water for?
Water naturally contains contaminants from the lakes, rivers, and streams from which it comes. It also gathers contaminants from the water delivery systems on its way to your home. Some of these contaminants are harmless; others are unsafe. The federal government regulates many contaminants such as:
Giardia lamblia
Legionella
Total Coliforms
Turbidity
Viruses
Bromate
Chlorite
Chlorine dioxide
Antimony
Barium
Cadmium
Mercury
Nitrite
And many more
For a complete list of all the contaminants that the federal government regulates, visit the EPA website at http://www.epa.gov/safewater/mcl.html#mcls
How do I collect a sample of my water?
Collecting a sample of your water for testing is easy but it takes a little thought. You need to choose the right source (usually the kitchen faucet) and time of day (often first thing in the morning), you need to handle the sample properly to prevent further contamination, and you need to transport the sample to the lab quickly. Bone cancer concerns to be aired at session
A press conference with residents of Ben Titus Road (Still Creek Road) and vicinity, Rush Township, Schuylkill County, will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Quakake Volunteer Fire Co, Tamanend Road, Quakake.
Carbon County Groundwater Guardian President Frank Waksmunski will discuss the high rate of a rare bone cancer (1 in 200,000 incidence) on a 0.4-mile stretch of Ben Titus Road.
In addition, area residents' health data of other cancers and illnesses will be presented.
The area in discussion is downgradient from the McAdoo Superfund Site, a co-gen plant and known illegal hazardous waste dumping into coal mines and shafts. With the help of Rep. David Argall, the Groundwater Guardians are asking Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Health to perform an extensive investigation.

The wells are only 60 feet deep.

Somone has to recommend to have the wells go to 1000 feet. No shallow wells in Massachusetts.
