What a joke. The only experience Shuster has in farming is handing out John Deere green bumper tickers.

I wonder if Bill will tell them farm subsidies are one of the things Government will cut out when these cost slashing Republicans get in power. You know, like they did last time they had a majority.

Unfortunately, no Democrat will ever be able to beat Shuster. The only way we'll get rid of him is to have another Republican take him out in the primary. It's just too bad that somebody like that Michael DelGrosso isn't running now. Shuster only got past him by an eyelash in 2004, and that was with heavy backing from the establishment in Washington and Harrisburg (many of whom are no longer there). But now, the time is right. If the Republicans could find a strong candidate and call Shuster out on his long record of questionable ethics and wasteful spending, they could run him out on a rail. He made an absolute @ss of himself at the Reagan Day Dinner last night.

How dare anyone doubt that Bill(BudLite) is true man of the people! Don't you remember how he bavely partied on with the lobbyists at the 2008 Republican Convention, in spite of John McCain's admonition to tone it down. Hookers and Blow, anyone?

Well he came for the beginning and then had to leave before it was over, so they let him talk first. He rambled on in very general terms about how we need to fight against Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama, and then he said that our state legislature elections are also important because we'll be redistricting soon and we have to be sure that we fix it so all these seats stay in Republican hands (and I'm a Republican, but I am ABSOLUTELY opposed to gerrymandering, which he was apparently advocating). He finished with a quote he attributed to Ronald Reagan (which I've never heard before and I know Reagan pretty well) about how you need to be friends with somebody you agree with 80% of the time and how the Republican Party needs to expand the big tent to include fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, tea partiers, libertarians, etc.

Well, after he was done and had left, Todd Rock and then Daryl Metcalfe got up to speak. Both of them commented on his statement saying that they really wouldn't be inclined to support a candidate if the 20% they disagreed on were the big issues like the budget, spending, or taxes. Knowing the two of them, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't much care for Shuster, given his tendency to brag about how conservative he is even tho he's one of the most pork-friendly members of Congress. Shuster wasn't there to see any of this, but he was completely made a fool of.

We've got to find a strong Republican to run against him for the 2012 cycle. This man is a disgrace to Pennsylvania and to Franklin County, and he's never been more vulnerable.

Franklin County has a long strange relationship with the Shuster dynasty. In the 1972 Republican primary Franklin Co. went solidly for favorite son, D. Elmer Hawbaker of Mercersburg. Bud in a slick media campaign, swept the northern part of the district in Blair Co., and won the primary. In the 2004 Republican primary, Michael DelGrosso, carried the Northern parts of the district against Bill(Bud Lite)after a Shuster aide was caught spying on the DelGrosso family. It was Bill's large majority in Franklin Co. that allowed him to win with a 51/49% majority.

Yup. Nowadays, the people up there are onto him and it's his ignorant band of loyal followers down here (like Bob Thomas, Dave Keller, Jeff Conner, and Rich Alloway) who keep him in office. A Republican from Franklin County would have the best chance of beating him. And I would also hope that there are a few Democrats out there who might be willing to lend a hand by switching parties long enough to vote in the primary.

It's pretty funny how you guys never change. You name call and "Hate the establishment....MAAAAN!) but you kiss every single one of their butts when you see them. You scurry home to your mom's basements to blog about how much you hate them later....but at the end of the day, you don't have the stones to say anything in public. Rock would have been horse teeth smiles from ear to ear had Shuster still been there when he spoke.

Do you want to know why the Taylor/Rice crew never gets any support from the rational majority of the county?

It's because youre fake, pathetic, cowards. Your support is dwindling just like it should be....people are seeing you and yours for what they are....spineless and power hungry, but starving!

The problem is - this incident probably helped Shuster more than it hurt.

It showed that he was more just regular guy. And not some sanctimonious, Beck-minded, Christo-conservative.

I've trusted him much more ever since...

Chambersburg, and Franklin County, should be in the same Congressional District as Shippensburg, Gettysburg, York, etc. The residents of Franklin County have more in common with those citizens than with people in Altoona!
