I am looking for someone in the Altoona area. His name is Darryle Beam. I have lost touch with him since leaving Altoona a few yrs ago. His last address was in Evergreen Court. He is about 5' 10 and use to have waist length sandy hair and blue eyes.I have called all the #'s for Beams in that area. I'm hoping someone knows this man as I have some things of importance with which he trusted me. If someone knows the whereabouts of Darryle please email me at starkar@hotmail.com with any info. Thanks so much.

And I seem to remember that they had a juke box in the place that only played 45's from the early 60's.

I grew up here in Altoona. I remember roller skating at the Jaffa, the best french fries at the Super 220 Drive In and Herb's Drive In Our first Fast food,(20 cent hamburgers, 15 cent fries and 10 cent cokes). Shaheen's confectionary store with juke box and vanilla cokes and the best hot dogs..Miller Grade School where, I went all six years...the Arandale Elks building stands where Miller School once stood....I remember frosty mugs of root beer at Grant's five and dime and Traub's toy store,,,and Santa Claus and chocolate frostys at Gables.and singing with the cherub choir from our church (FLC) at Christmas time.I love Altoona, it is my home, I still live and work here..but I am sad when I think of what has happened to our city in the last several years..This year Altoona Area High School granduated their smallest class since 1929..That tells us something doesn't it...I miss the town where we kept our doors open all the time, and neighbors took pride in their nieghborhood and the up keep of their homes...Our City fathers have allowed the influx of undesirables into our once safe and comfortable city..I am careful not to drive into certain parts of Altoona even during the daytime hours...I am horrified and dismayed at the peril that they have put our citizens in by allowing these people to move here..I do think that our city police are doing evertyhing they can...and I don't envy them their job, the are in harms way each time they leave their homes to go to work..They need our respect and support...as for our city Fathers...get busy...and clean up our town...repair the past mistakes of opening up Altoona as a drug and crime haven for lowlifes...Like the Pied Piper you have lead the rats into our city...now undo it...so we can reclaim our fair city and return Altoona, to the once peaceful town it used to be where people can live without fear...
