Politics - pure and simple. Big brother is overstepping their bounds to make this go away fast. The actual count IS over 900.

Oh sure, if it's "only" five or six hundred, it will surely go away fast?

Sounds like Mr. Bumbaugh put out a huge number without getting the facts. Really now why would you say that there were 1000 when there was only at the most 1/2 of that. Perhaps you do not know how to count? Next time get the facts before putting a rediculous number in the media. Granted no matter how many this is still a very unfortunate act of animal cruelty and I hope that both the owners get prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. One is just as bad as the other as they both knew there were livestock on the property regardless of who lived there or not.

I think it would also be interesting to know when the wife legally gained back posession of the farm. It could have been the day he vacated the farm. I think it's too early to point fingers, or in this case pigs feet...

Isn't the suffering of over 500 enough for you, Valley Girl? Have YOU ever tried to guess how many decayed, dead carcasses are left in a rotting heap in a huge, dark building? No matter what the number, the DA and the rest of law enforcement needs to be grateful Fulton County has even a single Humane Officer that cares about that hole in the wall, and they need to get their priorities straight. Who cares who looks pretty to the press and the voters? PROSECUTE THE CRIMINAL!!!! That is the JOB the DA is expected to do. It's not like he's going to be there dragging out putrid corpses and counting skulls.

I know over here in northern Franklin county, where there's *supposed* to be 6 humane officers, including Mr. Bumbaugh, who is the ONLY Humane Officer in Fulton county,(and mind you he helps cover Cumberland county as well as Franklin and Fulton) I could NOT get anyone BUT Mr. Bumbaugh to respond to a cruelty where an animal had no housing in freezing, wet weather. Does Fulton county REALLY want to potentially lose the ONLY Humane Officer they have over some blowhard's ego? And especially as fair and concerned a Humane Officer as Mr. Bumbaugh to boot?

And for the record, sources originally estimated the number to be 350-ish, then up to 750, then possibly 1000. That's pretty good estimating when all you can do is drag out skulls, some of which were cannibalized, and try to keep an accurate count. All they can charge the perpetrator with are the ones they are absolutely certain of, the ones that are complete, not the ones that are partially missing.

Can anyone explain why it is taking so long to press charges? Is this something they hope will just go away or some kind of cover up? Whether there are 500 or 1000 pigs, someone was cruel to those pigs and needs to pay for the crime and the clean up. Why haven't we heard what Daniel has to say in the media?

Nothing they do to the owners in the way of prosecution will take back the fact that those animals suffered and died a miserable death.

Somebody needs to be held accountable for this atrocious act of inhumane conduct. It surprises me how many people are so insensitive, and just look the other way when they heard stories like this. If you do nothing when you see abuse, you enable the abusers.

There was NO excuse for this kind of neglect. I hope this haunts the owner for the rest of their lives.
