The article read that she was in the left lane ... on the road, parked with her lights off. She was on the highway ... not on the side of the road. Also of note ... this happened on October 24th.

She drove to that spot drunk, duh, that is driving.
The lady is very lucky she did not kill anyone, her life would now be over and in jail. She should thank God for the early Christmas gift and see this as a second chance in life.

YDR loves to recycle news. I've seen many stories posted multiple times & months or weeks apart. The printed rag isn't much different. Why don't you change the name to YRD (York Recycled Dribble)?

You don't have to be driving or parked in a travel lane to be charged. There are more people than you realise that have been charged and found guilty of DUI that were parked off the roadway
along the road sleeping one off, behind the wheel.
The charges stick and your found guilty. Check it out

York Daily Record takes their cues from the New York Times ("All the news that's fit to print".)

YDR uses their philospohy "All the news that fits." Recycling helps fill the galley. Like the Post Office ... "If it fits, it ships".

I was happy to clear that up.

Since YDR no longer reports the daily street crime in Cesspool York and gives few details on what they do cover, space fillers such as this are recycled.

Sometimes they can't print stories until police charge the suspect. Ever heard of innocent until proven guilty?

That saying doesn't really apply to the article. Care to try again?
