This is quite a shame. My wife knew of Dr. Quinn & said he was a very fine man, indeed. Very tragic. 45 is oh so young. So much promise & such a great past.

Very sad day today. Both my husband and I had Dr. Quinn for several classes at Hope. He was a wonderful professor and a great man. We loved him. He came to our wedding (a 2 hour drive) and joined us for dinner just last summer. Very easy to get along with- and a wonderful laugh. He was a man of Faith. He truly loved what he did for a living and his passion touched many people. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

Thank You very much for all of your heartfelt comments. I am Johns Brother in law. My name is Drew. I am married to Johns sister Mary and I can tell you that no he did not have any health problems that we were aware of. I can also tell you that John Quinn was a very special person in my life and in this world. John loved everyone regardless of who you were or where you came from. He truly loved his life teaching and his friends in the Hope College Community.God rest his soul. We Loved You J.T

I just graduated this spring from Hope. So many of my fondest Hope memories were shaped by Dr. Quinn. It was mostly because of him that I was a classics major. I will miss JTQ.

"common sense" isn't using much common decency. John's family doesn't need to read your shallow and thoughtless comments. "Common Sense" should try using some common kindness!
