Our school board hasnt been great for a while. All they care about is doing what they want and not what should be done. J. Sherry and D. Maylen should be impeached. I think they rig the voting because everyone I have talked to said they didnt vote for Dewayne. He thinks he runs this school system. It does not matter what the parents think because they only do what they think is right. I wish someone would get in there and stand up for the kids and not make decisions that will just benefit themselves. It does not matter who runs they wont win. Dewayne makes sure of that. Dewayne has no reason to even be on the BOE. He is so stupid that he doesnt even realize that he isnt liked at all. He walks around like he is prince charming. But he is the DEVIL in descise. If someone who was a knowbody ran against them I think they would stand up for things instead of trying to take over. We need to get rid of every member and revote again. This is so bad.

Dewayne was not elected and there is no way he could win an election, when no one had filed for school board, to make sure he wouldn't have to run against some one he filed at the very last minute. So now he is on the school board and thinks he is god's gift to the school, and remember he wasn't elected. Oh, and he does have help in the court house that kept informed on the filings.

So then if someone wanted dewaynes seat they would have to run against him. I heard they try to fix the votes anyway. We need to get someone to run against him.how do we go about finding this stuff out?

I posted this once before in another thread, but that thread mysterously disappeared.

According to Oklahoma law all that is needed to recall (get rid of) a school board member is a petition with signatures of 25% of the highest number voted in a school board election for 5 years. Once the petition is approved there will be a special election with a simple retain/recall ballot. If he loses he steps down immediately.

Here's a copy of the bill I found online:

STATE OF OKLAHOMA

1st Session of the 52nd Legislature (2009)

HOUSE BILL 1652 By: Rousselot

AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to schools; providing for recall and removal of school district board of education members; providing for submission of a recall petition; requiring petition to be signed by certain percentage of school district electors; directing the county election board secretary to certify the number of signatures; providing for submission of a recall petition for board members elected by board district; specifying manner of recall elections; providing procedure for filling a vacancy upon recall of a member; providing for codification; providing an effective date; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

SECTION . NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section Section No.> <5-107C> of Title Title No.> <70>, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

A. School district board of education members may be recalled and removed from office in a special election held for that purpose which shall be called upon submission of a petition to the secretary of the county election board.

B. A petition requesting the recall election of a member of the board of education of a school district shall be signed by twenty-five percent (25%) of the school district electors in the school district, the percentage being applied to the highest number of voters voting in a regular school district election in the district in the preceding five (5) years as determined by the secretary of the county election board, who shall certify the adequacy of the number of signatures on the petition.

C. In any school district where the electors of each board district, rather than the electors of the entire school district, elect board members to represent that board district, a special election shall be called upon submission of a petition to the secretary of the county election board requesting the recall election and signed by twenty-five percent (25%) of the electors in the board district where the recall election is requested.

D. Recall elections held pursuant to this section shall be conducted in the same manner as the election of members of the board of education for a school district. If a member of the board of education of a school district is recalled after a special election conducted for that purpose, the office shall become vacant and the vacancy shall be filled as provided in Section 13A-110 of Title 26 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

SECTION . This act shall become effective Enter Effective Date> <July 1, 2009>.

SECTION . It being immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.

Looked at HB 1652. Doesn't appear that HB 1652 got past the
second reading in the House. Seems softball dad might need
a lesson in government before giving advice.
