It's about time something was done. I'm sorry that some people are considered insane, but those they kill are just as dead! Do the crime; do the time. I'm tired of the reasons why someone does something being the main objective. I want to see responsibility take over. I've worked with the mentally handicapped for many years. If my child were killed, I'd want justice no matter what the condition of the killer!!!
i agree with this. anyone can claim they are "insane", in which case no one would ever have to be held accountable for murder. i definatly think a killer should be punished, regardless of his/her state of mind. murder is murder

There are plenty of people who have a mental illness who are not violent. The ones who are probably not taking their meds. I have bi-polar and I stay on my meds and deal with the side effects because I believe not taking them is irresponsible. I think the law needs to be changed. If you don't take your meds and you commit a violent crime, then you should be locked up.
