My wife has had a horrible experience with the Keen Agency and I would suggest to anyone thinking of doing business with her, check her out with the BBB and the States Attorney Generals offices in both PA and MD before paying her any money.

Dear Scammed and Scared;
Let me ask: Why are you scared? Scared of being held liable for your false statements which I have already contacted our corporate attorney to being the process of finding out your name to take legal action against you? Scared? As you sit behind a computer without giving your name and you chose to falsely accuse my agency of being a scam?
Your email does not even deserve an educated response as I do know that intelligent persons would not bother to pay attention to such ridiculousness.

These are things to look out for when contacting a legit agency

Ask for the agency's client list and verify whether the agency does in fact provide models for the clients on the list; talk to models the agency represents and find out if they have gotten work and been paid in a timely fashion by the agency. Never pay an up-front fee, a "filing" fee etc. Legitimate agencies make money by taking a percentage of the money you earn from jobs they get for you. Generally speaking, legitimate agencies have more potential models knocking at their door than they can represent,
so be very wary of agencies that advertise for models. More often than not, these are photographic scams just waiting to put you through the mill. It is obvious she is a scammer all legit agents show their models she claims she is pretty you from perverts, thanks but who is pretty me from SCAMMERS like her?

Okay these people who are making these hurtful comments are insecure with themselves. And they wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the back side. Deborah Keen is doing a terrific job. And it's time to stop hating her and her agency. You people are just envious because you are not half as successful as her. Why don't all of you haters stop the hating and love yourselves and The Keen Modeling Agency.

They are suppose to hurt and get the message out to stop your FRAUD. You claim to have offices in NY, Fl, MA, Chicago, lets be real if you had all of these offices why are you holding interviews in Hotels each week? And why have not any models created a youtube video showing their checks or tearsheets? Face it you are a SCAMMER Debbie I guess not as many people are falling for your crap consumers love Google and before they attend model calls or pay money they will always Google you and your comapny.. Just close your doors already and stop scamming people you are the reason the industry has such a bad rep. Your evil and people work to hard for their money tell the truth you dont need a portfolio shoot to do hair shows stop it already. If you are such a great booking agent you would never need to step foot into a hotel you would just partner with agencies in those markets and split commissions the bookings you get would never pay the hotel and airfare and other expenses. So its evident you make money for selling photography just come out and say you run a photography studio you are not an agency that makes the majority of there income from bookings you know it and so does everyone else. You never once deny these claims because you know their true. Bernie Madoff got away with it for decades so I am sure you think that people are fooled because you have a license in PA well so did David Dupont and look what happened you are heading down the same path prison its just not worth it you have a family and kids practice speaking with them behind glass like in prison so sad there are people like you.

New York Times Headline Article on Topix by A.G. Sulzberger
New York Times writer A.G. Sulzberger writes about the impact of Topix Forums in small towns where gossip is harder to avoid. The full article is here, though it has been republished all over the web. As a writer myself who writes less passionately on other subjects besides Topix, I cannot fault the Times article for being somewhat subtle and fair in its treatment of a company who deserves far worse. Nevertheless, the article leaves to the reader to see the fallacy of the majority of Topix CEO Chris Tolles commentary, cited throughout the article.
Tolles really does not seem to see anything wrong with running a website which lets people post the local gossip on a news site that never archives and that quickly attracts major search engines. While different people have different views on gossip, we teach our kids about not letting it turn mean or hurtful, enact laws against cyberbullying and so are we saying that for adults its ok and on an online news site its also okay? Is it okay for today's gossip to be up 2 years from now?
The article quietly quotes Mr. Tolles saying that the comments are "funny to read" as if they are a comic strip about someone who is not real. Funny to outsiders, perhaps but to the target they are not at all funny.

He says that [what Topix does] is better for business. So, whose business did he mean or did he mean for his own business perhaps since Topix can profit off every visit, even selling ads for MATCH.COM members who are unwittingly shown on the site.
Tolles says that the site can be a place for whistle-blowing and candid discussion of local politics, however other sites can and do play a similar role. Scrolling through some of the political discussion forums, one may occasionally find a valid discussion but one will also find political discussions that amount to personal attacks and slurs on candidates that don't really seem like they are furthering the public knowledge of the issues.
Topix claim to be a place for discussion is shadowed and marred by the reality that the site is abused and has enabled damage throughout the nation from lost jobs, to lost reputations, to lost community positions, emotional damage, fears and financial woes. All of this in the name of a company who uses an excuse of free speech when in reality they just like the profit from all of the web traffic that they continue to suck in.
What the article doesn't cover is the fact that the problem is not limited to small towns where people actually GO TO TOPIX. Topix powerful news aggregation prowess brings even the fakest of Topix news stories to the top of engine searches. For more information on this, including our test post, visit our our Google and Topix page here.

Matthew Walters - September 21, 2011
Topix Recent Headlines Are NOT The Whole Story
A recent story about Topix effects on small town gossip in America only scratches the surface of a much bigger story. Topix is being used against adults and children all over America and is destroying reputations, causing fear, stalking and cyberbullying in towns where people have never heard of Topix.
Topix fake news stories can dominate search results on a local persons name. Topix CEO Chris Tolles continues to defend Topix under the guise of it improving online news by allowing people to comment and discuss. However Tolles does not provide any evidence that online commenting causes people to consume more news, discuss it more, understand it more nor make it more useful. It is not even clear what percentage of news readers actually read the comments and many online comments seem to serve the writer, rather than the reader. Tolles sole justification for the need for anonymous online commenting seems to be that people do it in volume on his site. However, a quick reading through Topix conversations reveal that many comments on relevant news stories end up going off topic, turn into mud slinging and often end up being a debate about commenters. Topix does not archive story comments, rendering discussions stale and irrelevant and because anyone can fabricate a TOPIX story, it is becoming more and more difficult to distinguish reliable from unreliable on Topix. Big media companies are quietly profiting off topix and members of MATCH.COM DATING WEBSITE have their profiles strewn across Topix forums of all kinds. We are urging you to stand in opposition to Topix and to not be jaded by Tolles slick talk.
Will Companies Like Topix Make the Internet Less Trustworthy?
Topix stance on free speech no matter what the cost, combined with GOOGLE'S absurd decision to allow Topix forum posts to jump ahead of all other websites creates an uncertain future for the internet as a source for reliable information. After all, you can post something complete fabricated about CEO Chris Tolles on Topix (I didn't, but you could) and that post will show up high on GOOGLE searches, higher than information posted on more reliable websites such as Techcrunch (biased and spun, but at least not fabricated).
If Topix manipulate GOOGLE to no longer give you reliable search results, but instead to only give you Topix results, then whatever is posted on Topix becomes findable information on the internet and accurate information becomes harder to find. And since we KNOW that hundreds of thousands of Topix posts are unreliable then hundreds of thousands of GOOGLE searches are leading you astray.
In the earlier part of the century, if your neighbor told you something about someone else in your neighborhood, your most likely response would be to believe them. But as gossip and rumors have evolved during the last century due to the advent of tabloid news, the hearsay of people has become far less reliable.
On Sunday, October 30, 1938, millions of radio listeners were shocked when radio news alerts announced the arrival of Martians. This would simply never happen today, because media have proved themselves to be far less reliable than they used to be. CNN, ABC News and the BBC tend to be the most trusted sources for news but even these best in class outlets often are questioned, not necessarily for fabricating, but for some degree of bias (less biased than the others, but still biased).
Our skepticism about information has curiously not been as strong as it should be towards the internet. For some reason, what we read online just seems incredibly believable. Spend a few minutes reading THE ONION and you will realize how incredibly believable the internet seems. However if companies like TOPIX continue to be treated with undeserved authority, our trust for what we find on the internet will diminish and we will limit our use of the internet for reliable information to just a few websites.

In 2007 Time also did an article on TEN ESSENTIAL WEBSITES and as you can guess, Topix did not make the list. Craigslist lets you report abuse and they do something about it.
Wikipedia continually strives to be the best the internet has to offer by creating systems to insure accuracy.
Businesses complained about their reputation getting trashed by careless reviews.
Completely opposite to the approach that every other user involved website has taken to improve its safety, perception and integrity,

TOPIX has simply turned the other way.

Yet each name associated with Topix today, who chooses to turn a blind eye to the abuse that could have been curbed, could be blacklisted all over the internet by angry citizens who will simply never ever hire them. Can you imagine what it would be like to work for a company who ends up being responsible for some child taking his or her own life (we are trying hard to stop Topix before this happens) and having to live the rest of your life knowing that you could have stopped it but you were too greedy to speak up? Do you think that EBAY would be around today if they had not created a system for feedback on sellers and buyers? Nobody would be sending things FEDEX to each other and trusting payments the way that they do because EBAY knew that trust and reliability would be the cornerstones of their success. YELP reviews are worth reading as are TRAVELADVISOR, but would you go to a hotel because somebody told you its a nice place on Topix? Seriously, I could list my backyard as the top vacation spot on Topix and no reader would ever know the difference.
Topix Admitted In Court Documents that It Only Had 28 Employees
We have through the Freedom of Information Act obtained copies of court records, filed by Topix when they were asked to reveal the IP addresses of anonymous posters who attacked the Leshers in TX resulting in a lawsuit. Topix filed an ANTI-SLAPP motion, claiming that it had too few employees and therefore did not have the resources to provide the court with the IP addresses of less than 200 people. Former Topix manager EMILY WILLIAMS HURLEY, who told the court that she was responsible for the GENERAL MANAGEMENT OF THE TOPIX FORUM SYSTEM, claimed that Topix only has 28 employees and that each was essential for the day to day operations of the company. Hurley also admitted that they receive 1000-1200 new 'user inquiries' per day in their reputed 300,000 plus forums and that she was responsible for overseeing them. Use Topix for a few hours and you will not have a hard time surmising that the vast majority of 'user inquiries' really boils down to POST COMPLAINTS (ie - reports of concern or abuse). Yet Topix promised and CEO Chris Tolles signed an AGREEMENT WITH 32 ATTORNEYS GENERAL to improve moderation of its forums and to help combat CYBERBULLING on its site. How can a company with 28 employees do that and why did Topix change its TERMS OF SERVICE shortly after, in an apparent attempt to further distance itself from responsibility for what others post in its forums?
It is the opinion of this author and those working to contribute material to this website, that Topix has neither the inclination nor the resources to justify it aggregating news from thousands of sources all over the web, hosting over three hundred thousand commenting forums that really can't be moderated given the number of people that it employees and is negligently running an out of control website that is destroying lives and reputations and creating a platform for cyberbullying.
Topix cannot police its forums PERIOD. Topix cannot honor its commitment to the Attorney Generals with the resources that it told the court that it has, and any hope that the community has that Topix is improving things is completely unrealistic wishful thinking.

I have sent 3 emails requesting my son's user name and password to enter into their site now that we bought the pictures and are paid in full, which they tell you you'll get when your child has a model ID #, which he has, once we paid for the picutres in full. Also asking when I can expect the portfolio book that was on back order. HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM THEM, but when I had 4 days left before my final payment for the pictures were due, Deborah Keen knew how to call me with a "courtesy call".

Also, was not happy with the pictures, out of (approx) 200 pictures, I only found 15 I liked and paid $399, when originally they say that the pictures are around $300. I gave $150 at the shoot and $249 was due when the pictures were ready, but I could not view them without paying for them in full. When I complained to the Keen Agency about how dissatisfied I was with the pictures, the photographer Lisa Petz asked what she could do to fix this for me - I told her I'd like some more of the pictures retaken - NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HER EITHER.

I do not find their customer service good at all.

I do expect a full pubic apology from you; that is, if you are a person of honor and integrity. If not, people should automatically dismiss your statement as is bears false information and the sender is a person of cowardly existence.
Any person who would continue to make false statements regarding my Agency, will be properly documented. This is by far NOT the first time that I have filed a slander suit against persons who have the malicious intent to disrupt and harm by business for reason I am unaware of .
I wish all the best.

To start you spelled public wrong. I have no doubt your a legitimate agency how ever after looking around online I dont think your a very good agency unless people want to model their hair.
I feel a good agency would spend less time defending its self online and threatening to track down and sue people who don't like your company. They have the right to express their opinion.
