where have all my old friends gone

just sitting here today, a new year right around the corner, thinking of all my old friends from rochelle, why is it you are such great pals one day and, 30 years later you think why didnt i stay in touch ? i was 16 when i left rochelle, but the memories of old friends linger, maybe my new year resolution, look up old friends and, never lose touch with your new friends.

I was born in rochelle but left when I was in second grade. Still have family there and in Creston also.

I lived in Rochelle for a long time; 2nd grade through high school. My step daad lived there pretty much his entire life. I loved living there and miss it terribly. It would be nice to go back and visit old friends and have a long walk around to see what changed and what is new. I am a lot like you, Charlotte, and think about old friendships and the different paths we take. I don't know about you, but I am sooooo busy that I barely have enough time between my family, job, current circle of friends, etc. I can't imagine trying to rekindle old relationships. Life is too fast! I try to be thankful to God for each day you are given!

I also have family in Creston. When did you live there. I moved back in 1973?

Yeah Jane used to babysit us when we were young. Some of my family(cousins) are still close to the kids.
My family and cousins all moved to Wynne back in 1972 ans like I said I have only been back to Creston maybe twice. My cousins left Creston much later and travel back there often.

I have family in wynne ar now.I used to live in wynne I worked at halstead there for years.

i graduated high school there in '81 and left in '94. haven't been back other than passing through since '96. i sometime wonder what happened to my old friends, even wonder how many of them are still alive. maybe i should go back for a visit, but i left because rochelle became a bad place for me and i relocated to get my life back on track and sometimes wonder if it would be worth it to go back now that i'm back on track.

It is such hard work keeping up a friendship. First, as you drift apart you have less and less in common, so there isn't much to talk about. Then when you "rediscover" each other years later and go out for coffee or a beer you are reminded that each leads a totally different life. Life as they say "has moved on". I only have one long term friend who I've known since 1987. He lives in Charlotte, NC and we see each other once or twice a year, talk every 4-6 weeks. We deliberately keep conversations under 20 minutes. Embrace the natural life cycle, new friends.
