What is this? someone makes a left accross your lane, not allowing you enough room to stop. You collide. You are dead. The driver that caused your death is allowed to go her merry way without even a summons for causing the accident? Something is terribly wrong here.!

The intersection in question is just a bad spot. I unfortunately saw the aftermath of this accident. The guy on the motorcycle was driving a Ninja and must have been going exceedingly fast.(Hey, lets be real, have you ever seen someone on one of those bikes drive slow?) On the other hand, the stupidy of a driver for making a left hand turn across a lane of traffic when time, opportunity or space does not permit shows a lack of brians on her part. I just feel sorry for the biker's family, to be taken so suddenly is very sad.

The story says he was on a Harley, and I think it's pretty hard to confuse a Harley and a "Ninja" and I've seen and know many people with sport bikes who actually ride them w/o being "that a**hole" who speeds around doing wheelies cutting between cars.

How did you see from another state. And the article said it was a 2004 Harley? What gives here?

It seems the decision to not file charges comes rather quickly in these investigations. Was this driver on a cell phone? Is this investigated at all?

Hey Gary - learn to read! It was a Harley and I can bet Jerry was just cruising along and this stupid bit.... Mary couldn't wait the extra 3 seconds it would have taken for him to pass and now he's dead! I hope she rots in hell! I am a rider too and I see this crap on Long Island all too often. Why is it every single spring & summer we have lose another dozen riders!! 90% of the time its because of impatient people behind the wheel - makes me sick! Mary you're an a.....hole!

Does anyone know how we can start getting laws changed to charge vehicle drivers with manslaughter when they kill motorcyclists? If it was a car-on-car accident, the left-turn driver would have been charged. Everyone knows when a bike is involved with an accident, it was the brainless, stupid, rotten, careless, a**hole car driver at fault. Unfortunately the police have now validated Mary's right to kill without repercussion.

As a biker, I hear all too often about accidents where the driver simply says "I didn't see them" I'm getting so tired of that excuse. This is motorcycle season, people, be aware of what's around you, wait the extra few seconds to make a turn, be considerate of those of us who enjoy riding on two wheels. For the record, the guy was riding a Harley, not a Ninja.

My son has just purchased a motorcycle and I am so scared something will happen to him. The drivers who just don't see or care to see motorcycles. I know some of the motorcyclists speed but more often in these fatal accidents, drivers don't see them. WAKE UP when your on the road and BE AWARE OF WHAT'S AROUND YOU, that might be my son you're riding next to.

Lady. If your kid bought one of those Ninja bikes he probably won't make it through the Summer. Say goodbye to him now and don't expect any sympathy from around here. I have no pity for anyone who rides a sport bike and gets killed. They all have it coming. This past weekend I could hear them coming off the Robert Moses Bridge non stop for two straight days. It sounded like someone split open a Bee Hive. The Cops never go after them because they can't catch them. I can't wait until those things are outlawed or everyone that owns one gets killed. They are a scourge to civilized drivers. Good riddance.

I feel bad for this guys family, but face it there are a lot of a__holes on bikes who think they own the road. They think they have a right to get where they want to get faster than anyone else. I see it everyday!!

That part of your comment, "don't see you, or CARE to see you " has a lot of signifigance. All too many times, someone wating to pull out in your lane will wait patiently for 4 wh. traffic to pass, but will look directly at you, and realizing that you are at a severe disadvantage in the case of a collision, will boldly pull out in front of you, knowing that you will do your best to avoid contact. It happens all too many times to be a coincidence! Make sure your son takes a riders course and passes a N.Y.S. motorcyle riders test!

This person was a really good guy. Why isn't the woman paying for this. She was making a U-Turn and hit him and now he's gone and leaves
his kids behind.

I myself am to scared to get on a motorcycle ( I do think they are cool though!) but I have to say generally motorcyclists are much more courterous and safe on the roads than most car drivers. Yes, there are a few on those ninja's that just drive like dumbasses. I respect the motorcycle and the fact they dont have the safety we have being in a car if we have to stop short or are in a fender bender. I keep appropriate length when driving behind them and keep aware if they are around me. I actually would rather drive with a bunch of motorcycles around me than most cars.
