Hey Newsday!
Your story on the bogus cop leaves out important questions. If the victims of the impersonator were "arrested", where were they taken and how did the bogus cop perform these "arrests"?

I'm curious, regarding the story of the 24 year old male who posed as a cop and arrested people; When you say he arrested them what do you mean? He put handcuffs on them and then what?

P.S - This is just another reason why unmarked cars shouldn't be allowed to make traffic stops. Catching a few more speeders isn't worth this kind of risk.

Hopefully if he goes to jail, make sure the inmates think he's a cop, or at least a cop wanna be

This is the worse piece of reporting I've ever seen. You think maybe you can do a little more investigating into this matter and find out what happened with this bogus arrests? This is half ass reporting you should be ashamed of yourself.

An arrest does not mean that you have to be jailed, only that you are stopped from moving freely or going about your business.

If he did more, such as ordering them to stay in their car, took their keys or put them in his back seat while he 'checked' things out, then they are detained and thereby arrested and also could be considered to be falsely imprisoned too.

If he put a person in the back of his car and drove the car with them in it that could be considered to be kidnapping.

All in all this is pretty serious and pretty bad for this id10t.

Paul had a very reasonable question, Where DID he take these people who were supposedly arrested? This is reporting at its best!(And maybe you and Robin should get a life!)

so let me get this straight. This guy wasn't getting paid but he was still doing police work, while suffolk county pays their cops like $60K a year to do nothing.
they make a lot more then $60k guy...but when getting pulled over and your uncomfertable stopping for an unmarked car call 911 and see if there is a car suppose to be following you. this guy could have been caught awhile ago!

I hope they can add some false imprisonment, theft, stalking, etc. charges to his impersonation charges.
