Come and visit the city before you decide. Attend meetings of the City Council and the Holbrook Improvement and Development Corporation (HIDC). It would be a shame if you were scared off from moving here, but you would not be the first. This is a shame. Shame on the bullies and those who allow themselves to be bullied. iF theyre asking them to leave that seems to signal they cant make them leave. developers know whats around and dont have to buy land near something like this. when they moved there they were probably along ways from anything
holbrook has rejected anything that comes in it seems. they rejected a private prison a few years back. they have nothing but tourism to support the town on really.if its in the industrial part of the town it should work out ok

To reply to your post, i would just like to say that i grew up in and around Holbrook. All in all its not that bad of a town. Sure it has its share of b-s like any small town would have. I believe i have read one of your posts in the past and if im correct you bought land in Sun Valley or around there? if so that place is out of Holbrook and down the I-10 a little ways, so you wouldnt really have to deal with anything in the first place. That being said, I will say that Holbrook has not had growth in my 28 years of life, though i would like to see it. Holbrook is a beautiful town and the surrounding areas are beautiful, some of the people there make it hard sometimes, but thats expected. When i get ready to retire i will probably end up around Holbrook somewhere, but for now, with the job rate in holbrook being zero i will stay where im at.

They were not "asked" to leave Tolleson. They needed more space and a more modern facility. You people who stopped this move to Holbrook - a place which is joked about around the country - can take a win as those jobs are going elswhere. Bravo!

Who are you kidding. That would be one nasty place. They are asking to potentially sell off 24 additional spaces to heavy industrial, I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't want a tallow plant, explosives plant or slaughter house next to my home. Have you read the counties definition of Heavy Industrial? They are trying to sneek in without allowing us due process and steal the value from our properties. Land is available that is not near any homes. Why do you think they are being ask to leave Tolleson?

Hard to believe in towns like Winslow and Holbrook there could be 'anti-growth' council members. BUT, these towns have had a history of problems with new growth that simply numbs the mind. I am 53 and grew up here in Winslow and have many family members buried in Holbrook. Here in Winslow we hope to have a plywood factory in the old BVD/Hat factory. They are ironing out the red-tape with the forest service with regards to getting the lumber they need. The building looks to have been abated of abestos and work is under way to renovate it.
