Go to the E'Town topix and read the posts on the propsed birthing center.

HMH and a lot of local hospitals are against it.

Why?

Because it eats into their profit.

A birthing center wouldn't get a lot of use around here. They aren't going to accept Medicaid so I don't think too many women would go there. I don't have Medicaid 7 I sure wouldn't go there as I would want a doctor there in case something did go wrong.

And that is why HMH is against it. It will take all the people who have insurance away from them. They will be stuck with all the Medicaid patients and less people who have insurance.

And, it would draw people. They have in other states and they will here.

I have insurance as do all my friends, & none of them would ever use a place like this. They aren't going to be affilated with any doctor offices or pediatricians. Just sounds too risky to me. But to each their own & if this place gets approved I wish all the women who go there well.

A birthing center would be a wonderful safe alternative to people who want to have a natural birth without the outrageous hospital bill and in the event if an emergency they would have everything backed up ready for any situation thrown at them and I relive about of insurance would cover it bc it would e less expensive than a drugged birth

I would have died if I'd had my child in a birthing center, away from a doctor and the hospital. I know they can ship people to HMH if there's a problem, but that may or may not be fast enough. Is there a pediatrician and a true OB/GYN on call who will agree to come to a facility that isn't equipped for surgery? How quick are they really going to get there if they are called? Are there going to be political issues that cause delays in care when there's an issue with the mother or the baby? It seems very risky to me. It's a good idea in theory, but I think in practice it would be dangerous. I would never place my child's life or my own in that situation, but don't judge anyone who feels it's the right thing for them.

You're not any safer at Hardin memorial. I know lots of babies born at Hardin memorial including mine that due to dr errors they either didn't make it or were sent to kosairs. Nothing was wrong prior to arriving at Hardin memorial if incompetent ob nurses at drs that practice there. I personally wouldn't want to go to a birthing center either but just saying.... You're not any safer at Hardin. Go to Louisville , nortons is great & kosairs is right there is an emergency arises .

Im having my baby at home, 100% natural birth. We made this baby the natural way and we're going to have it the natural way. No Drs, just me, my 5 children and my boyfriend.
