I live in Avenel. The day, and hour you passed away, we had half a day of school. I was at the park with my two younger sisters, one was 14 at the time and the other 10. We were playing basketball at Avenel Park when we saw helicopters above us. We wondered what was happening but we would never imagine. I remember a young girl came by us and shouted out to her brother that a girl had got struck by a train. We barely paid attention to it because we didn't think it was true at all. While we were walking home, which is about two blocks away from the train station around 4, we saw a huge crowd of teenagers and younger children, so me and my sisters went to see what was going on. We saw tears, hugs, and confusion all over the place. We were there for about an hour just observing everyone. I couldn't believe what had happened just a few blocks away from our home. That night we watched the news for the incident and we were still in shock. Your story makes me wonder all the time, and it's amazing how I never met you, yet, your story touched my heart, as well as both of my sisters. My youngest sister talked about the story all the time, and she even left you a flower at the train station. I think of you very often, and again I must say it is weird since I have never met you. I do, however, remember seeing you the day before you did at Avenel Park, because one of my friends had stopped to talk to you. You were beautiful. Your story has taught many lessons, has brought the neighborhood to tears, and to my sisters and I, well it has brought us closer. So for that I want to thank you. Rest in peace Ashlyn, trust me, you will never be forgotten <333
