I attended Oktoberfest on Saturday night with my husband, brother, sister-in-law and my almost 3 year old and her friend. We have attended this event every year since moving to the area in 2002. It took over 35 minutes to park in the $10 parking lot. Which I would have like to bail on but since there were NO other options for parking, we had no other choice. The food is very reasonably priced and you get a lot for your money. It is great they let kids in free, however, they are making money on them. The carnival rides are not cheap and my daughter and her friend love the BIG slide. The slide costs $3 to go down once. Which seems a little steep but the kids love it! Of course, I didn't want to send a 3 year old by themselves as it would be dangerous so my brother and sister in law each took one down. The lady at the top demanded that they too pay the $3 entrance fee to take them down. So in order for two 3 year olds to go down the 5 second slide once, it costs $12! She suggested we send them by themselves, but sorry that would be dangerous. I just found it quite aggravating since they advertise the event as a "family event" and it seemed hardly one to us. Granted you can attend earlier in the day and purchase a wrist band but we were unaware of that. In summary, we left spending over $150 and we didn't even drink! We don't think we will be rushing back next year!
