DO you personally know anyone on the CAT team? I do and several of them are good, loyal, hard working officers who were fed a load of crap by Sanders. What have they done that is illegal? Doing an officers job is not popular, especially when you don't adhere to the laws of the city, state, etc.

When you see all the recent shooting in Hobbs, your finger just has to point at the Chief of Police. The incident in the park is just one of the things that make you wonder where were Hobbs Police and why do we pay them so much if they can't do their jobs and keep the city safe. Time to call our city leaders and asks them what were they thinking, hiring some unemployed guy from another state. Hire someone who has a job, with what Hobbs can offer we should be able to get someone good. Money talks.
DO you know how many officers the City of Hobbs has? Are you aware that there is a HUGE shortage. Therefor, the few officers that are working a shift do not have time to babysit grown men who choose to act like idiots and try to kill each other. I'm sure you would be complaining if they had been at the park and not somewhere else when another crime occured. Please, educate yourself and do not blame the police for the ignorance of criminals.

Hobbsman,You have asked for people to show their face and be a man but,I don't see your face either. You want to know why? Most people know this board serves a useful purpose in allowing the sharing of ideas and expression of opinions in an intimidation free atmosphere. So grow up and be a man and play well with others for a change. It is close to Christmas and The Man Knows if you have been naughty or nice. And believe me he is watching.

It was on channel nine news that the city of Hobbs has had a lawsuit filed against it.The City said the suit was filed in retaliation stemming from the fact that the city did not sign the police contract.I understand it is because some of our officers had been given orders to do things that completly goes against state laws on the books. It is hard to believe someone could believe that he is smarter than the people who have made these laws and it means everyone else in NM are to follow them, but someone as smart as he is just follows the ones he likes.Someone's fingerprints are all over this one.I wonder who.Surely it couldn't be our police chief? Maybe not.

Hey chief how about this... barely five months into your job already four lawsuits against you. How much money did I and the other law abiding citizens that pay taxes pay for you to come here. How much more are WE going to have to pay for lawsuits? I think YOU should should pay for them since it is your damn fault. I am getting tired of this I really am I extend this to you if you decide to leave I will have no problem helping you pack I am sure the city will fill up your gas tank considering it will be much cheaper than countless lawsuits. So Chief take your jabba the hut looking self and go somewhere considering that every place that you ever lived doesn't want you back either I hear California is nice you will fit in with all the wackos over there.

Whatever the Chief's flaws and good points, the shootings have nothing to do with him. Hobbs cops CANNOT be everywhere at once. They don't have time to just patrol and set at a park, they go call from to call to call nonstop. If you want a cop to stay at a park all the time you're going to need more cops than you have now.
Maybe if they spent less time writing tickets for parking on the sidewalks and setting speed traps they would have more time to do what they were intended to do - PROTECT AND SERVE. With the drug and gang problems Hobbs has I have to question the motives of a police force that writes 1300 to 1500 tickets a month - many which are petty and could easily be handled with warnings. But NO - let's issue as many tickets as we can and see who wins the burrito contest.

Do the people who do the hiring in Hobbs bother to call previous employers to see what type of employee the people,"Like Mr.Sanders"? Or do they just take the word of the "Head Hunters",who I'm sure get paid to recomend someone for employment?I feel our commissioners should have to at least make one or two calls and then let the public know if there were problems with them from where they came from.I feel the same should be done for the city manager. As it is now we have at least two people who are in "CHARGE" that we the people don't know anything about. And these two people, who are not voted into their positions, seem to do "Anything They decide they want to do regardless of whether it is the right thing for Hobbs or not. They can just move on but the citizens of Hobbs are left holding the bag, good or bad.Think about it!
Our wonderful new city manager just got a 12% raise and hasn't even been here a full year yet. Most other employees get 2 -3% at most. How long has it been since city employees have had a cost of living raise? Wake up commissioners- your employees are hurting. And how about the changes the city manager is recommending regarding retirement and benefits. It seems there is no limit to beautifying Hobbs and making endless improvements to new City Hall (does the Annex ring a bell) but the employees are left in the cold.

Well, for starters there is stopping, harrassing, and/or arresting people while in unmarked government vehicles. These are vehicles with regular tags NOT government tags. Also, they stop people for any reason they can make up. Then if they catch them with paraphernalia, drugs, etc. they tell them they will let them go if they agree to "help" with information. If the individual fails to come up with the desired information, they then ask a judge to sign a warrant for the persons arrest even though it may be weeks later. Why did they not arrest the person when they had him there? These are current tactics of the CAT team. They think they are Miami Vice (wannabees?).

ilivehere, you can't stop the citizens of Hobbs from telling it like we see it. I don't see anyone in the police department speaking up. Part of your job is to Protect the Rights of the Citizens of Hobbs, using people and than turning around and endangering their lives is not part of the job. You can't ask someone to rat on people and then tell the person who they helped you set up, who it was that informed on them. They live in the community and have no way out. Morally it is wrong. The police department could learn alot from the fire department, these guys stick together and work as a team. The people working for the police department are so afraid to speak-up. If you know its wrong then tell the Chief. We have laws that protect the citizens and if you know it is wrong speak up. The CAT team are trained officers who should understand the laws, after all look at the cost of training a police officer. Its not about the number of people you arrest it's about arresting people who commit crimes. Support the Union they are there to protect you. United we stand, Divided we FALL.
