There are 28 comments on the www.businessweek.com story from Aug 24, 2012, titled Oil Donors Fete Romney Days Before Unveiling Energy Plan. In it, www.businessweek.com reports that:

While the presidential election isn't until November, it's already clear that Mitt Romney has won over America's oil and gas industry.

Days removed from fundraisers attended by Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM)’s Chief Executive Officer Rex Tillerson and Continental Resources Inc. (CLR) Chairman Harold Hamm, Romney called for the aggressive development of fossil fuels to make the U.S. an “energy superpower” in a 21-page plan released yesterday.

What LEFTY refuses to acknowledge is that while pissin' n' moanin' about Big Oil tax writeoffs for fossil fuels LEFTY champions Big Oil tax write offs for ethanol type fuels.

BP and SHELL are involved in both.

A broke clock feels the right time twice a day.
Tax breaks or subsidies. For profitable business reeks
Taxpayer money should only , rarely , go on loan
To help viable but stressed companies like
G.M. As an example.

Am I RIGHTY about this or what

I agree .

That's why many people want the gifts to biz lowered considerably so lobbying , cronyism and campaign contributions cannot buy as much.

Many pols like high taxes so they can sell subsidies , tax breaks and loans etc. It all swirls around the all mighty dollar.

Amen
The almighty dollar is the american religion...

If a break or loan goes to save a viable company like G.M.
I'm in...
If it goes to an already profitable buisness like oil...
--OR--
To some rich S.O.B. who hides in some Caymen Island tax dodge
As some Presidential candidates have been known to do...

GM was a politically modified bankruptcy saving the unions pensions while shafting non-union retiree pension and bond holders and income plus the loss of thousands of dealer closed locations jobs.

Nice try with the trick question...I'm impressed ...duh !

You DIDN'T agree on the tax cuts but deflected off on Romney...wow..sneaky of you.

You DIDN'T agree on the tax cuts but deflected off on Romney...wow..sneaky of you.
first...These loss of many of those dealerships and thier associated jobs were due to 'Creative destruction'
The market based decision making process, and the term, that Romney used in describing his role at Bain.
If GM responds to the market and restructures it's self this is bad...
If Bain engages in a little bit of 'creative destruction' it's O.K....
if you need to accuse me of deflecting attention ...OK...
You did the same by failing to take into account the effect of Market forces.
Instead bring up an old RIGHTY whipping boy Unions.
Ford not bailed out, still as unionized as GM. They had to close dealerships due to market conditions.
Same thing right ...good Ford...Bad GM?
Also...
You wrote "You DIDN'T agree on the tax cuts"..........wow....sne aky of you.

I kind thought that i was EXPLICIT about my opposition to tax cuts for profitable buisness and wealthy individuals....being explict about what i won't except....you caught me...very sneaky

Point in 2010 GE with the biz tax rate at 35% paid ZERO-ZILCH-NADA-NOTHING on $14B in profit in 2009.

In 2008 GE made $9B in profit and paid 7% taxes on it.

Try again.

Yahoo finance
symbol look up
GM
financials
Income Statement
Gross Profit for period ending 12\31\09 (8.79B) parenthisis mean a loss
Net Operating income or loss 12\31\09 (20B)
For a net income tax expence 12\31\09 (2.16B)

GM showed a gross profit and a net operating income for the period ending 12\31\10
and paid taxes on it.
If a company can some time pay no taxes or a lower rate in a given year
it is because they have 10 years to write off their NOL Net Operating Loss

as far as verifying 2008 much more complex
i've never been required to audit more than 3 years of spreads
but i am sure it can be found
Corporations are only required to keep 3 years of information
On their SEC 10K

we were talking about the GM bailout
You brought GE into it
I didn't catch that
Good job on that

I was defending GM , the loan is being repaid
Loosing the taxes generated byAmerican GM workers, suppliers
and sub contractors. All those unemployed workers would have cost the
country even more in unemployment insurance...
All the numbers on GM are correct
and i will stand by the GM deal

GE , was an accounting scam that fleeced tax payers on both sides of the Atlantic.
GE is the kind of a deal that sucks...Giving tax breaks or money to a profitable
company is wrong...I had already stated that i wont approve of breaks for profitable companies.
As far as GE's numbers .. you understated how much that they had taken in.
It wasn't a fact that they paid zero taxes....they used NOL losses to get a rebate

I would never attempt to defend that kind of tax law
nor the accountants that aided and abetted that robbery.

The Kochsucking [email protected] known as Big Oil & Gas are responsible for our environment going haywire. They will do anything for a buck, including poisoning you and your children. It's time to National Energy and throw the Koch cartel to hungry wolves.
