Three & a half year,s ago I had a benign megioma brain tumor that was as big as an egg, which was by my pituary gland & pressing on my optical nerve.

I had a small catarac that Dr Izak Wessels had removed before I knew of this tumor, I had been going to him for a year & a half every time I went I had a field vision test, which will alert you to loss of prolifical vision after the catarac surgery i had very cloudy vision & Dr wessels did laser on my eye which was very blood shot. After afew weeks I noticed that I was running in to people in the store,s . I went back to him , & did not get any help he would just pat me on the knee and hurry to his next victim. well i made an apointment with another Dr which took one look at my eye & imediatly sent me for a MRI . My husband got my records from WESSELS every one of my field vision tests had shown something was wrong even from my first visit. so now i have no prolifical vision, no taste OR smell. If this Dr. had paid more attention maybe some of my vision, taste & smell could have been saved. It is all about getting as many patient,s in & out money, money money SO BEWARE, DON'T BE FOOLED BY ALL THE DEGREE,S & NEWSPAPER CLIPPINS ON HIS WALL

Well, well, well in my opinnion only: I did a quick search regarding staff privileges at each of the area hospitals listed on this good doctor’s “Physician Profile”, on the state site. he is the person responible for this information on the state site.

He is currently NOT listed at any of the aforementioned hospitals, as having staff privileges! In other words, it appears he has NO staff privileges at any hospitals!

Have I made a mistake? Can anyone tell me what this means? Please….

I am very sorry to all of you that have not had my experience with Dr. Wessels. I have nothing but Praise for him. He is the most awsome and uplifting Dr. I have ever had the pleasure of going to. I have been going to him for around 9 years. I have been ripped of by other Eye Doctors that told me I had problems I did not have just to run expensive tests on me that I had to pay for because the Insurance did not pay for and the ones I am refering to are the ones in the very large, very plush offices in the Hamilton Place area. Yes the wait is longer than I would like but he is worth waiting for to know I get the best care. He does not mind helping people in emergency situations. Any time day or night and is cheerful about it. I hope I never have to see another Doctor for my eyes, only him. He does expect for you to follw his directions that he gives when you leave. Many people are quick to blame Dr.'s when something is not really in their control and give the Dr. a bad rap for something not in his control. My husband would not go to him till last year and thinks also that he is the best Dr. he has ever had! As far as children goes I would have NO problem taking my children to him. He has helped me improve my eyesite. I have a very thick chart.

We have nothing but praise also for this giving wonderful man. He treated my hubby for several years trying everything within his power to help him w/ a central vein occlusion. He will be sadly missed. He was so loved by his staff..great teacher..always taking time w/them...oh yes, he did help my hubby immensely...We were so saddened to hear he had sold his practice as he was very ill. God bless his sweet wife and family..

Dr. Wessels has treated my dry eyes, my wife's glaucoma, my mother-in-law's macular generation and my father's eye injury. We have seen our share of doctors but have never gone to such a knowledgeable, caring doctor. We have had much experience with his medical care and generosity and have nothing but praise for him and his practice. He was also dedicated to passing on his knowledge to the next generation.

He was fantastic for me and my family. I suffer from amblyopia and have been legally blind in my left eye since birth. When I was young I went to many eye specialists, eye therapy, etc etc and what little sight was gained in my left eye always came at a cost of the quality of vision in my right and ultimately I was I always told I was SOL. My dad had to get a growth cut from his eye and Dr. Wessles did the procedure, from that experience my dad urged me to see him, I did and within 6 months I could meet the minimum level of the drivers eye test....Everyone makes mistakes and you cant please everyone, he was nothing but great for me.

Dr. Wessels was a very warm and caring person. Always the same in and out off the office. He cared deeply about his patients. When I worked with him years ago, he worked selflessly for his patients, keeping late hours calling to check on them after surgery. He was a good, down-to-earth person. Sorry to hear of his passing.

So sorry that some of you have had issues. I wonder what the true ratio is of unsatisfied patients to patients. Dr. Wessels found my husbands "esophageal" cancer that had spread to his eye as a tumor. It was far too late to save his life but unlike the ER doctors who didn't have time to test or take time to question, Dr Wessels DID take time to find the problem. I believe he is a wonderful doctor. And they don't ask incompetent doctors to teach other medical students...which he has done. I'm sorry to hear that he may have died. I hope it isn't true.
