Clive Orton, president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon said:“Government proposals to regulate cosmetic surgery would still allow unqualified surgeons to practice and would not protect the public.

In fact most cosmetic surgery operations are extremely complex and require a high degree of anatomical knowledge and surgical skill as well as aesthetic appreciation.

The National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) should also mean surgeons whose operations regularly result in complaints and complications would be excluded.

But Mr. Orton warns: "This will probably not happen until considerable harm will have been done to too many patients."

Sorry, Mr Orton, but 4 to 5 hundered-thousand-woman walk around with dangerous PIP breast implants placed into their body's, by Cosmetic quacks from all over the globe! So I disagree, this fact, along with so maney cosmetic surgery patient deaths, clearly shows considerable harm has already occured.

Dr. TooMuchInternetBS, what’s up doc… beside the retail rent!
Sometime back, you manically made a very “BOLD” statement, regarding safety “statistics” of cosmetic surgery. Now I do believe, we both understand this one simple fact: because “Cosmetic Surgery” is not a recognized Specialty, nor a Sub-Specialty, within established, practice-based, US medicine, statistics DO NOT exist, futhermore cosmetic , anything is NOT on any report nor will it ever be, until recognized!
Therefore NO STATS! Hell, I can’t even find any stats on the AACS site either, everyone reverts to an ABMS driven stat or blames those nasty competitors of yours, those poorly trained, want-to-be, Plastic Surgeon’s! However, that cocky-little statement of yours, well let’s just say it was somewhat, motivational.
Here’s the fact, the latest “USA Today” article brought to light: Just in case you were so busy “slicing, dicing, filling & sucking, those poor old middle-aged woman, with their husbands check books, to notice… down in Texas, the pitiful board of medical examiners, has been besieged with complaints? Now, I’m certain it’s a bunch of foreign trained quacks trying to get rich quick, maybe even a group of pissed-off P.S.’s trying to compete with your exceedingly skilled group or maybe even those idiots occupying space on the “do nothing” medical examiners board…anything but a cosmologist…right?
In a 9 year period complaints rose from: 4,900 to over 8,000 last year…any comments doc?
what’s up doc…beside the retail rent!

I am researching Plastic Surgeons in the Chattanooga area for breast reconstruction due to breast cancer...I have already used one Plastic Surgeon in Chattanooga but the surgery was not a success...Plastic Surgeons make it sound so simple after breast cancer but it wasn't for me...Any guidance or a good recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for posting and clearly reminding us all, why “ Plastic Surgery” exist in the first place! It appears you’ve been on a very, very long road both emotionally and physically challenging., I wish you only the very best , in your continued recovery and congratulate your effort to research this particular topic. Secondly, I’m a (Potential) Patient’ too, hence my prospective on these matters. You didn’t provide much to work from, but I’ll try, without any further questions/answers!

Now to your request; First, there is no such thing as a simple surgery, it does not exist, never has. If any Surgeon ever, presents any potential surgical procedure as “simple”, find a new surgeon, period. This of course being, especially true, regarding breast-reconstruction. From my understanding, this procedure is a very complex-process occurring over an extended period of time and certainly requires a surgeon with great related- skill set. While, the physical surgeries(s) are certainly a critical component in reaching an acceptable outcome, for any patient. However, what may have occurred, prior to the reconstruction surgery,(radiation therapy/ mastectomy/ lumpectomy, the remaining scar tissue etc…) may directly impact your reconstruction too?

Please continue your research, to this point, PLEASE: achieve a very clear understanding of what’s transpired, leading to these unsatisfactory results. This should include, a direct open and honest discussion, with the Plastic Surgeon who performed the reconstructive-surgery, attaining their professional assessment of your current physical condition. It’s very important that you understand the related facts, completely and entirely. Don’t be bashful either, it’s their job! If you have done all this already, then request a copy of your complete medical file/records and go seek a qualified second, maybe even a third opinion. I cannot impress upon you enough, the importance of your own education in this matter and your complete-truthfulness with any doctor, you so chose in moving forward for an acceptable outcome. This is of the upmost importance!. Please make sure your personal expectations are surgically attainable too?

Below please find, what I feel, to be the seasoned-dedicated Plastic Surgeon’s in good standing within Chattanooga, prioritized by me, alone.

Although, I have never met BRZEZIENSKI, only knowing him indirectly, through others and by reading about him. I like him, his education, moreover his continued education, professional /community dedication, good husband, father, teacher, ethically-sound, disciplined and very accomplished. Others have confirmed the very same on this man too. I do believe he stays very current on his surgical-skill set, which is very broad in scope. He is one of the few ABMS (Truly) Triple Boarded Surgeons in town. I like the group he practices with too, they’re “married”(so to speak) to Erlanger too, just in case! Kennedy’s name is absent from the list, who is one of BRZEZIENSKI partners and a good/solid doctor too. However, simply because a ABPS sub-specialty certification of his, appears to have lapsed (in hand-surgery) That’s why I did not post his name. I personally do not accept/like, any question’s, whatsoever, regarding any medical credential, of any doctor period, don’t have the time, this should be current or explained! Sergeant, I believe is the senior partner of the group too. I’ve heard many positive comments on him through the years, I like the direction he has taken/allowed this practice go. That’s my personal first choice and I would not hesitate to recommend this group to any of my family members in need. Additionally, all their related “medical credentials” are top notch too, regarding facilities and their ancillary medical staff members. I’ve checked it!

The finial point, I really like about this group: They are not “surgical-legends” in their own minds! In other words you will never find one of these guys soliciting our local “Rag of a newspaper” for a best of the best designation! This group has and does achieve their success by their actions, not words from their very own big-mouths!

Go here: http://www.refinedlooks.com/meetdocs2.htmVONW... ,

VONWERSSOWETZ, I had three close friends, who had substantial “cosmetic style” surgery performed by him, he did an outstanding job from a aesthetic prospective, all three patients are very happy with their long term results! Scanland, Leech and Chase, I’ve heard nothing but good too but nothing definitively, I simply don’t know but have heard their names several times from past Patients, who are very satisfied. The other two, BEAHM, EYSSEN, I know nothing about and simply do not have the time to educate myself at this time.

I have also monitored and posted just about every single “Sanction/disciplinary action” the state-board has handed-down since the state first started posting the report. I can’t remember any of these doctors ever having any related issue. Please be advised too, around the 18th of this month a new disciplinary report will be available from the state on its website, CHECK IT!

I do believe, any well-seasoned potential reconstruction surgeon, would be more than happy to discuss your current condition and can provide a list of like- patients, who would also be more than happy to discuss their personal paths with you, I do believe that would be most helpful at this time, a support group which understands by experience. Unfortunately, there are a lot of woman in this collective boat! I’m glad you reached out and I certainly hope this posting helps. Please keep us informed, as you can.

Impacted here: A major variance between, cosmetic vs. plastic dr.’s, is practiced based training. Dr. Murray became interested in “skin-graft” rejection, the rest was history!
“Dr. Murray was the first surgeon to perform a solid-organ transplant when on December 23, 1954; he transplanted the kidney of Ronald Herrick into his identical-twin brother Richard, who suffered from end-stage renal disease. The procedure ushered in the contemporary era of transplantation, and from this accomplishment Dr. Murray shared the 1990 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine.

Joseph Murray M.D. died on November 26, 2012, and though he may not be a household name, he was one of the most accomplished plastic surgeons in history, and one of the major figures in 20th century medicine.”

Your welcome.

BTW: We are not trying to ruin any doctor’s reputation here, their more than capable of accomplishing that task, all by themselves. However we are clearly focused on patient safety, education and proper medical credentialing. Again, you don’t have to mention any doctor’s names, however sharing your experience, may help others! Once upon a time, a ABMS Otolaryngologists/ only an ENT, Dr. Bruce Pancake, arose from his bed one day (after a few bad ENT outcomes) and manically pronounced,“I’m a Plastic Surgeon”, not only was he permitted to do this, he got away with it for almost ten years! All the while practicing, excuse me-“capitalizing” on unknowing patients and injuring them. The entire medical community knew he was no plastic surgeon, several injured patients had to be seen by other local doctors, in an attempt to correct his butchery! Not to mention his staff, his family, the state medical board and venders all knew he was NO a P.S.! Collectively, everyone sat on their ass, while he continued his butchery, thus enabling him to commit these atrocities against the local patient population at will. Hell, even his “obit” stated he was some-kind-of great-local “Plastic Surgeon”… Did I mention he killed himself three days before facing the state board on 30+ claims… The collateral damage in our community was tremendous. So I promote sharing information as a means to avoid any other like-Pancake!

Since that time I’ve posted many threads on mostly on “bad behaving doctors”. A “chief of staff” was arrested for killing 13 people by over prescribing narcotics , she’s now in prison, while the entire local medical community there, knew what she was doing over an extended period of time, to! There’s close to 50 deaths I’ve tracked (and mostly mothers) related to bad outcomes, of attempted “cosmetic surgery” procedures. Again, untrained “Quacks” practicing on unknowing patients in unaccredited strip centers offices across the country every day, the survivors of these cosmetic quacks, then go to “supposed” reputable doctors for corrective treatment. Hell I even had a couple of these quacks state that cosmetic surgery has killed no one! Or how about 500,000 woman with decomposing (plasticizer-migration-I think, to be exact) breast implants filled with industrial-grade silicone, running around the world today! That news broke 1/12 in the UK, a Texas P.S. completed a study on these same implants about 5 to 6 years earlier and released the information but these women now suffer! Recently, 76 Nurses faced our state board, about half of them, had their tickets revoked, mostly drug related. The above barley scratches the surface of this pitiful –mess too but you get the point, right? Bad doctors are some of the meanest, greediest and thieving individuals walking the face of the earth! Always remember: The louder the mouth the bigger the QUACK!

So with these things understood, you must do your job too! You mentioned “I have had a bad experience with one of the Plastic Surgeons on your list and a friend had a similar experience with another PS on the list” I truly believe it is of the upmost importance, for you to discuss your “bad outcome”(?) in complete detail, with your latest choice of Plastic Surgeon’s, whomever that will be. Therefore you seek two clear opinions: How did you get to this present point physically and finally what must be done in detail, to achieve a satisfactory reconstruction outcome, a written plan of attack, if you will! Please make certain that conversation, then becomes part of your permanent medical record too, do not miss this step, very important to your health!

If you and this surgeon agree to proceed, secondly and of equal importance: You want/need/demand a complete written “surgical plan” from A to Z,(Listing primary surgeon, anyone assisting, where/when it takes place, how long the procedure should take-projected start/end time, list any and all items being put into your body or used on your body by this procedure-all medications, including the type/intended amount of anesthesia, manufactures name/location and specific product name/serial # if relative, all this information in your hand, along with all associated consent forms, well before any surgery takes place, minimally one full week. Clearly tell your surgeon, you will not sign nor approve a thing on surgery day! Surgery day is just that: for SUGERY only! This happens every day and believe it or not, this intended style approach “waiting till surgery day” for sign-offs, is standard practice for the quacks!. Additionally don’t even consider, having this type surgery, outside of an properly-credentialed, hospital’s surgical suite either.

Do not proceed without this information in YOUR HAND! In other words, you got better things to worry about on surgery day, rather than signing damn consent forms or approving products! Additionally, YOU and a least one other, family member preferably, should be completely educated about your intended procedures, before you hit the table. That person must be present the day of surgery for contingency purposes and make certain the primary surgeon and hospital clearly understands this fact, in writing too!

Kind Regards;

Dear, did you mean: Dr. Leech, the real “honest-to goodness” Plastic Surgeon? You know the kind with real hospital privileges, formally-trained in a real U.S medical-school for this surgical specialty, completing a full-residency in Plastics before actually practicing on his Patients, who has all his professional ethics/morels in place and functioning. That good doctor? I’ve personally heard nothing but good!

However, I do agree, maybe a little plain, in the looks-department but a real McCoy, in the brain’s-department, nonetheless! He's not a ““Pretty-boy- want-a- be” either, you know the type, don't you??? Remember Pancake, who held up his cover-shot, on “Mr. Muscle” magazine as a medical-credential of his, to lure-in those unsuspecting female…well maybe male too, patients! Many found out the hard way, he was no real McCoy!

Why do appear so jealous of this good doctor?
