Thanks for the post. It's ridiculous to expect people to have a photo of their pet when they go to claim it - especially if they aren't even allowed to go back home for their belongings! I want to know who the bonehead was who put that procedure into place so I can tell him what I think of his 'smart' idea.

IKE ANIMALS TO BE PUT DOWN....Cats and dogs rescued from IKE are being held at the Houston SPCA, photos will be posted on their web site BUT-- you must have a photo (other than the one they post on their site) to claim your animal!!! IF NOT CLAIMED WITHIN 10 DAYS THEY WILL BE EUTHANIZED!!! What about people that lost all photos and such in the hurricane??? You can help stop this-- call (or email) the Houston ASPCA and all the local TV stations and register your disgust!!! Maybe it will help prevent save an animal.

no, but there are cats and dogs running lose in the streets. Those are people's pets, why isn't out government picking these dogs up and caring for them??? Why leave them down there to starve and get lost and possibly hurt in all the debris?
Last night on the news I saw they were getting the animals out and taking them to shelters. The PetSmart near me said some of the animals found were going to some of their shelters to be adopted by caring human beings.

There is no excuse for pet owners leaving their pets behind. We also had to evacuate and took our two dogs, two birds, and two ferrets with us.
Your pets are your responsibility. If you cannot properly care for them, then please give them to someone who can!
