Is it even worth doing any more? It seems like it just gets worse and worse every year and at this point it just seems like a big waste of money, and time. I think they need to put someone new in charge of planning it, or just shut it down all together. What do you guys think?

It's just imposible to make people in Hinton happy. Someone always has something negative to say. I thought the fireworks were great and probably cost the city a lot. I'm sure a lot of people worked hard to get the parade and fireworks ready for the people of Hinton. Why not enjoy what we have and stop complaining. If you have great ideas, why not chip in next year and help? I'm sure they would appreciate all the ideas and help they can get. I'm sure a lot of children really enjoyed it, and really that's all that counts. Stop being such a scrooooge, you'll feel better!

We enjoyed the fireworks tonight from the bridge....it is nice a small town like Hinton can afford such a wonderful display in these times.....I for one am proud of our little town!

Fireworks and a parade are nothing compared to what it was when I was a kid. And Yeah it is imposable to keep people in Hinton happy when all we was hoping for was to go down town for a day, and not have to look at a bunch of crack addicted hooker looking for a fix. I just miss what my town used to be, and Iím sorry if that makes me a bad person.

Pretty sure they get a certain amount for the water festival from the state - that the city itself isn't paying out for them.

The ones in charge don't want help from anyone outside their circle which is such a shame. No pretty baby this year, only one dance in a different location much smaller than other years. Such a shame.

When the State Water Festival first started, girls from each county were chosen and they came to Hinton and one of them was chosen queen. I know this because a girl from McDowell County -Ginny Lou Ganato was queen-when did it just start having girls from Hinton- it's not the Hinton Water Festival-It is the state water festival.

the dance was at the water slide and the pool and slide were open free to the public, the water festival people didnt do the dance it was sponsered by local businesses and the city

The people that live in this community have the right to complain all they want to about this years water festival. The city did not do anything for this festival this year. I guess it is too much for them to actually work. They don't care about this community if the did they would do more things for this community besides having an over prices waterside and pool!!!!!!!

The firemans parade and the fireworks were good. The grand parade was a shame. Brought my kids down just to watch 5 minutes of the worst parade ive even seen. The water festival has gotten worse every year and i blame the people in charge. I know they try and i understand that. The state just needs to give it to another city. Its disgraceful to even associate this town with the "state" water festival. Very disappointed.

Every year I read the same old whining about this festival........this festival is no longer listed in the festivals the Association of Fairs and Festivals lists as receiving State aid........it is not listed in their Calender of Events either so maybe it is just a local event now....be glad you have it at all.....the way I see people of Hinton whining and pouting here and gossiping about their neighbors it's a wonder anyone does a thing for you!

We do need someone new to work on the Water Festival.

Wish they (whoever) would open their planning meetings to everyone like the John Henry do!

Ok... and it still wasn't as good as past years.
I appreciate that they - the city and local businesses - had one since the Water Festival didn't this year, but my point still stands. I don't know why they didn't have it in the parking lot as they have done for the past how many years.
Basically the only good night/event is the Fireman's parade and the following fireworks, all the rest. meh.

It should not come here anymore. I got stuck in the fireman's parade and I had icecream that partially melted. If they want to do it. Take it to another spot so it doesn't disrupt traffic. Same thing goes for Train Days.

Everyone knew where & when the Fireman's parade would be. Don't be a dumbass & buy ice cream at the exact half hour you know you can't drive down that road.
That parade honors all the firemen & firewomen do for us. Pray they never have to come to your house, be grateful & use your head.

Thatís a pretty broad statement. I was stuck in traffic as well, because I was unaware of the parade time.
