Sure, because Obama has the only say on the budget and whether or not it gets approved.

Assclown.

Wow! Aren't we a little sassy and testy? You guys can't keep blaming Bush for Obama's mess-ups! When bush left office in January 2009, gas was $1.88 a gallon; today it is $3.30. Where's the outrage you Bush haters had when gas got higher during his term? I believe most liberals are amoral hypocrites.

When did I say anything about Bush? I think you must be hallucinating...

Gas prices are controlled by the countries that produce the oil we're so dependent on... you know... like Iraq and Afghanistan, Libya and Egypt, etc. Seeing as we've completely ruined two of those countries, and the other two have undergone revolts to get rid of the dictators we helped put into place, the only thing that surprises me about gas prices right now is that it's less than $15 a gallon. If you'll recall, people were upset ANYTIME gas has gone up since we started using it en masse. They've been upset about it for years, and even Bush had to address why it was going up a time or two in his term.

Then again, I didn't mention gas at all, or morality. I simply pointed out that the reason the budget hasn't already been approved is because of the recently elected Tea Party candidates.(Something easily verified by listening to/reading any piece of news.) I think Tea Partiers should return to high school and get diplomas, then they might understand what their jobs as elected officials are.

Sorry if I stepped on your little liberal toes. Your comments come across as very judgemental of conservatives and their values. I'm sorry..I refuse to blame the stalemate on those trying to cut government expenses; it belongs squarely on the shoulders of big-spending liberals and their "Grand Potentate" Barack. People like you associate the Tea Party movement with conservatives, and rightly so. Anyway, I support Gov. Walker and the other sensible Governors. Maybe sanity will prevail in this country before it's too late.

Cutting union bargaining rights isn't cutting expenses. If he was trying to balance the budget, the fact that all those people said they were willing to take the pay cuts would've done that. He has a social reform agenda, not a budget one. There's a very important difference. If you remember the way coal mines were run before Unions stepped in, and the battles fought to make those places safer to work, perhaps you wouldn't be pushing to get rid of them. Collective bargaining is the only way to ensure that big cooperations will listen to their employees at all.

People like you that take something in reference to Bush when there was obviously nothing shouldn't be championing sanity. Drawing wild conclusions from non-existent implications is pretty much the textbook definition of paranoia. I'm sure you and Glen Beck share many conspiracy theories and religious delusions.

At one time, unions were necessary, but they have gotten too powerful. My husband was forced to join, even though Va is a "right to work state". He paid dues so the fat cats could go to conventions and party. Coal miners had it tough in the far past, but have it made now. Even when I was a kid, they had the month of July off and many of them spent it on the banks of the New River near Hinton. Back then, a whole month's vacation was a dream for others. Do you really support unions running auto manufacturers, airlines, hospitals, schools, police departments, and government? I sure hope not!!

Unions don't run auto manufacturers, airlines, hospitals, etc. However, they should have the power to make things very tough for the people that do if their working conditions are sub-par, their wages sub-par, etc. In cases like Massey, Enron, etc. it's been shown time and time again that the cooperation doesn't care at all for the safety or livelihood of its workers, and cannot be trusted to do what is best for their people. Collective bargaining ensures that the worker has some say in their working conditions, pay, benefits, etc. To me, that is necessary, because I don't believe, for a moment, that a cooperation wouldn't strip a worker of every benefit they had without something standing in their way.
