Hey all. I am wondering which grocery store is better, Save-A-Lot or Kroger. I personally prefer Save-A-Lot because of the lower prices and unique brands. What are your thoughts?

I like Kroger. I never shop at Save a Lot. They're not "unique" brands, they are off brands. Some of these off brands are not regulated or inspected well and it's hard to tell where they're coming from or how clean the manufacturing companies are. I would rather spend a little more and feel confident about my families safety.

The FDA approves levels of arsenic in apple juice & the "pink goo" that goes into all of McDonald's hamburgers, both of which are poisonous to humans. Just b/c it's in Kroger doesn't mean it's approved by the FDA nor does it mean its healthy b/c the FDA has approved it. GMO's are also in more than 75% of all of the non-fresh/non-organic food sold in Kroger (& all grocery stores). Don't fool yourself into thinking its safer b/c it's Kroger.

I'm not fooling myself! I said I feel better buying name brands. I don't care if it's from kroger or walmart.

Perhaps you should reread your original post. You stated you prefer Kroger b/c it's safer and better regulated. Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not trying to accuse you or say your choice to shop at Kroger is wrong. I shop at both. I just wanted to share the info I have recently learned about unsafe chemicals in food at all stores, even in food approved by the FDA.

I read the post and didn't see anywhere the remarks you stated. Maybe YOU should read what was wrote and not what you read into it.
Nowhere was it stated that this person said Kroger was better regulated all was said was the off brands were at the place of manufacture

I will only buy canned things or the occasional frozen things to save money at Save-A-Lot.. I have found creepy crawlers in the dog food and cereal and such.. Could have been from the distributer or factories, who knows.. Still freaked me out..

well if you have recently learned about all these unsafe chemicals in foods at all stores then prove it before you go making accusations about my store.

Just a fact has no bearing but save a lot was originally started by a serial killer from Indianapolis

Oh my let's compare apples and oranges but in doing so let's remember they both grow on trees ehh.I'ld bet Kroger's overhead;rent, salaries, benefit s are larger than save a-lots all of these costs are passed on to consumers(business 101)Brands are different but so are packaging and display.Unless you organically grow and process your own food you are acting on sheer faith.I patronize both depending on product/purpose/price.

What do you mean by this. The two that works in their meat department are clean and cut the product fresh. You are totally clueless.
